so my can just jumped on me and started biting like he thought i was food, lovely scratch marks and red spot, but didnt draw blood. he did use his claw a lot and when i got up he ran away, if this more playful or being aggressive? i read online that cats do this for multiple reasons but he does nibble a lot and usually leaves a lot of marks and idk what he wants, he has food, water, a bed, and i give him pets whenever i see him. does anyone with a cat have answers?
He probably just wants attention
^
And more play time
if they bite you without drawing blood or hurting you, its usually a play thing
if youre bothering them and theyre irritated and thye do it, its a warning
^
depending on how you got him, if he wasnt raised much with siblings and a mother, animals tend to have that issue of not knowing how to play a bit more gently
And that’ll normally come with a tail going back and forth and ears pointed back
If they’re mad
And possible growling and hissing
So he just wants to mess around with you
a swishing tail can mean a LOT of things. from annoyed to playful to content, so its hard to tell. checking their body language/hissing/growling is the main thing.
i got him from a foster home, and he was very curious of me at first, but a few weeks later i discovered a bite mark on his paw that needed medical attention
Ah
My cat hurt her paw pad and we had to take her to the vet
aw ):
She ended up staying in the house for two weeks
She couldn’t stand it because she is indoors and outdoors
he doesnt his or grown when he does it but when i pull back and say "hey" in a distressed tone, he keeps pulling towards me and bites more
but yeah... some cats like to be played with gently/with a toy, some cats like to rough house a bit. if your cat likes doing that and is gentle, that rough em up a little bit without hurting him.
okay, it seems like he has a hard time being gentle
when you pull back its a natural response for them to hold on harder
Do have one of those string toy things or whatever they’re called?
Like an animal on a stick that u drag around and they chase after
so I would say "hey" maybe go "TSSSSS" at him, or grab him gently by the scruff, without yanking your hand away
and yeah, toys might be better if he gets carried away all the time
