Someone summed it up pretty well online - fandoms are the secular world's new religion. Like it or not, leftists tend to be atheists or part of a religion that is outside of Christianity. Christians tend to be Republicans. I hear leftist Christians get very angry about this, but the fact is that anyone reading their Bible can automatically tell that the left does not align with Christian values.

to be in a religion however you must first actually work at aligning yourself with said religion. You have to essentially think enough like everyone else to be considered a part of it. Fandoms on the other hand let anyone in simply because they like the content. (and even then, I see a lot of "creative liberty" in that area.) Because fandoms appeal to those who don't have a religion to solidify themselves in, this leads to them having a disproportionate amount of liberals inside their communities, as they don't have any church to be dedicating their time to

this leads to liberal echo chambers which in turn leads to lots of liberal meltdowns every time someone enters that doesn't agree with the liberal narrative
