similar to me too 👀

2021-01-08 18:30:00 UTC

i'm not opposing the idea of buying up small businesses, but i'm wondering about the scale

2021-01-08 18:30:01 UTC

If you are talking about a counter-culture movement of sorts, to push back at the progressives, that'd be dangerous

2021-01-08 18:30:14 UTC

buying up lands?

2021-01-08 18:30:26 UTC

Buying land? Like city blocks?

2021-01-08 18:30:44 UTC

neithon said he's planning to buy/created small businesses

2021-01-08 18:31:00 UTC

I'm just worried about some of this ^^^

2021-01-08 18:31:03 UTC

@Ranger_720 I thought about building the financial base to oppose the commies by buying small businesses as a group

2021-01-08 18:31:33 UTC

Like a small business conservative union?

2021-01-08 18:31:36 UTC

That could be cool

2021-01-08 18:32:02 UTC

something like that

2021-01-08 18:32:26 UTC

but are the businesses concentrated in one area or across the country?

2021-01-08 18:32:47 UTC

Probably both

2021-01-08 18:33:00 UTC

It could even be an extension of national republican organizations

2021-01-08 18:33:25 UTC

aimed at funding conservative businesses, especially those that face a lack of funding for their views

2021-01-08 18:33:39 UTC

i mean, i'm not opposed to it. i think that's a good idea

2021-01-08 18:33:50 UTC

i can work as a safety net for conservative businesses too

2021-01-08 18:33:56 UTC

same same, it's more of the implementation

2021-01-08 18:34:00 UTC

yeah

2021-01-08 18:34:03 UTC

fair enough

2021-01-08 18:34:13 UTC

because how do you know which is "conservative businesses"?

2021-01-08 18:34:29 UTC

people could have a gun store and are still raging progressives

2021-01-08 18:34:44 UTC

As soon as you set that up, it's going to be "The RNC, Turning Point USA, etc. (whichever group theoretically supports this) is supporting white supremacist businesses"

2021-01-08 18:35:35 UTC

it might be better if it's supporting small businesses in general imo

2021-01-08 18:35:53 UTC

<@333424381156130818> but the public doesn't have to know

2021-01-08 18:36:04 UTC

because small businesses need a safety net anyway, and if the program that helps them lean conservative, they can buy in easier

2021-01-08 18:36:07 UTC

How would you keep that sort of thing private

2021-01-08 18:36:14 UTC

^^^ exactly

2021-01-08 18:36:28 UTC

they can audit and find "systematic racism" or whatever -ism in there

2021-01-08 18:36:33 UTC

Like incentives for pro-life, etc. advertising?

2021-01-08 18:37:01 UTC

that would be cool

2021-01-08 18:37:55 UTC

My biggest issue with that is I don't necessarily think businesses should be vocal in politics

2021-01-08 18:37:57 UTC

something like that? because i'm thinking like a welfare state. people vote for welfare (ie. the government), which is leaning democrats. if we're running a private welfare support that lean conservative and preach conservative values (explicit or implicit), it will soften people to the idea of conservatism

2021-01-08 18:38:29 UTC

Isn't welfare something conservatives dislike

2021-01-08 18:38:49 UTC

depends on the business models, i think. ie. for sports, sports had always been tied to politics

2021-01-08 18:39:03 UTC

how so

2021-01-08 18:39:29 UTC

just like athletes' platform power?

2021-01-08 18:39:52 UTC

okay so what if we buy / build businesses and use the profits for political campaigns / ads?

2021-01-08 18:39:55 UTC

it's poor word choice, but that's the general idea i'm interpreting from neithon. build a safety net and help small businesses to thrive might not be "welfare" necessarily

2021-01-08 18:40:40 UTC

sure. black athletes were barred from sports for some time. hitler barred certain countries from the olympic (if my memory is correct)
