i just slice a potato into thin circles (not quite chips, enough potato to be considered fries) then i fry them in a pan with butter, salt, and pepper.

2020-07-13 17:27:35 UTC

so good.

2020-07-13 17:27:39 UTC

super lazy and easy

2020-07-13 17:27:41 UTC

I had to be on welfare for a min and was embarrassed about it but me and my wife still uses coupons and bargain shoped

2020-07-13 17:28:02 UTC

i think people should be embarrassed to be on it. i dont like that good people feel that way, but thats how it should be.

2020-07-13 17:28:11 UTC

Anyone watching the press briefing?

2020-07-13 17:28:17 UTC

I've been on EBT before. It was after my first marriage ended and I basically had a breakdown. I'm not proud of it, but it happened, and I got off of it.

2020-07-13 17:28:48 UTC

I don't usually watch the briefings, I just get the highlights afterwards

2020-07-13 17:29:00 UTC

I'm epileptic. I worked my entire life, until my condition got bad enough I could no longer work. I can never drive again. Now I'm on Disability, and hating it.

2020-07-13 17:29:14 UTC

That sucks

2020-07-13 17:29:42 UTC

When I worked, I made a good amount. On Disability, I get about $500 a month. And I'm on EBT.

2020-07-13 17:29:57 UTC

Like legitimately, that sucks. My nephew has epilepsy, it was really bad for a while and he wasn't allowed to drive or anything. This was also before the internet was everywhere so it was extra shit for him

2020-07-13 17:30:01 UTC

Imajica you said you live on the Rez?

2020-07-13 17:30:30 UTC

Yep, @WarWiz . But I'm not a native.

2020-07-13 17:30:31 UTC

@DishonoredRonin. That’s not too terrible, as long as you have retirment and savings

2020-07-13 17:31:00 UTC

Oh I'm native and have benefits but don't use them

2020-07-13 17:31:08 UTC

I don't, @DonkDonkJuanHundo All my money and savings went into medical to KEEP me working.

2020-07-13 17:31:09 UTC

It depends on where you live. In most cities, that 500 a month won't even cover rent.

2020-07-13 17:31:48 UTC

Oh, sorry about that big time then. I cant imagine that. Sorry about you situation

2020-07-13 17:32:20 UTC

S'okay. My point is, some people are on EBT because they don't have a choice.

2020-07-13 17:32:31 UTC

I *HATE* not working.

2020-07-13 17:32:38 UTC

That's true and others make a career out of it

2020-07-13 17:32:44 UTC

Agreed.

2020-07-13 17:32:45 UTC

Yeah. I guess so @DishonoredRonin

2020-07-13 17:33:10 UTC

goes back to screening and efficiency

2020-07-13 17:33:21 UTC

Yeah, in some cases (like yours) I don't have an issue with it. It definitely needs to be monitored better though, because if there was less fraud, we'd be able to help the people that actually need it more

2020-07-13 17:33:41 UTC

And I agree completely, @mikeflarkin

2020-07-13 17:33:53 UTC

Exactly and the people that actually need it won't have a hard time getting it

2020-07-13 17:34:18 UTC

Sometimes I'm not sure where I'm really at on the political compass lol because I think some college should be free (or at least free to a point).

2020-07-13 17:34:25 UTC

Specifically trade schools.

2020-07-13 17:34:56 UTC

Did you know if you're on Disability, you can't have savings? At least not over a certain amount?

2020-07-13 17:34:57 UTC

sorry i stepped away for a minute, but @DishonoredRonin despite what i said earlier, when it comes to a case like yours, i support you being on it. When someone REALLY needs help, im more than happy for them to get it, but its the people that use it just because, or overstay their welcome that im against.

2020-07-13 17:35:49 UTC

@DishonoredRonin. I am completely fine with my taxes going to someone with your condition. A physical condition that they can’t help. Same with nursing homes and thing of that sort. The biggest problem is when people who just don’t feel like working live of our OUR tax money and take away from yours. That’s the biggest problem to me

2020-07-13 17:36:14 UTC

If you have, say, 10k in savings, and become disabled, you can't get benefits until you spend that down to the limit first.

2020-07-13 17:36:30 UTC

That’s dumb

2020-07-13 17:36:30 UTC

When I used to work for a cable company, I used to encounter a lot of what we called "Welfare Queens"

2020-07-13 17:36:47 UTC

man, you cant even qualify for welfare if you have a couple thousand in the bank where i live, even if youre out of work and CANT work.

2020-07-13 17:36:54 UTC

10 kids with different dads

2020-07-13 17:37:03 UTC

Same here, Wardog.

2020-07-13 17:37:28 UTC

There were very few things that were as puzzling and annoying as someone in a crappy apartment that clearly didn't work that had like 4 70 inch TVs

2020-07-13 17:38:01 UTC

i wonder, if you transferred all your money to someone you could trust under the notion of something like "paying rent" could you get in trouble for that with the government if you applied for government assistance? because now you dont have any money or assets to prevent you from getting welfare.
