It wasn't until making my own ttrpg setting that I started becoming interested in history. It became an interesting thing to mine for ideas of how my setting could go.
It wasn't until actually paying attention to modern politics that I started to realize history is absolutely necessary and just how fucked we are for not knowing and remembering it.
The history I’ve been taught is all obsolete anyway. Basically, bullshit about how FDR was a God when he prolonged the depression and Hoover a do nothing which wasn’t even true and aggravated the depression. The rest was all to vague and all was taught not to be understood but to be regurgitated by bitches who spent hours with their highlighters to get A*s in meaningless exams.
