> @DishonoredRonin I totally agree with you. People want to live like the idiotic celebrities they worship. You don't need to give your children $400 i phones, you don't need to visit Disneyworld every day. I guess at my age (68) I have a completely different take on things. My parents worked hard to pay for a good education for us kids. However, there were many a day I took mustard sandwiches for lunch. As I got older, many years I worked two jobs (put myself thru Hopkins) and sometimes three. The decisions you make WILL impact your future worth. I have many artists friends, who although very talented, pooh=pooh holding down a 9/5 job, now in their 60's they are bitching about not having what I have.
@Maggiemac311 Are those people who are struggling to meet their extravagant lifestyle the majority of those complaining about their low wages, or those who work over 40 hours every week and cannot afford basic necessities (food, rent, etc.)

@Variss - I agree it depends on where you live, Baltimore City has NO jobs, since the democrats drove all the corporations out with crazy taxes. I also think SOME people are creatures of habit and would rather complain then take physical action to improve their lot (different job, more training etc). Case in point, years ago, company where I was working was moving to a new facility that provided housekeeping services. I had two housekeepers that worked for me. I met with both of them, since their jobs were going to be eliminated and told them I would get them into what department they would like to move into and provide in house training if needed. One of the women wanted to go into telecommunications, so I got her trained and she was immediately transferred into that department and eventually was promoted higher. The second woman refused to give me any input and continued to complain about the fact she was losing her job. Nine months down the road, we laid her off when we moved. I'm sure she told everyone, we didn't care about her. Bytheway, both of these women were black. You have to be realistic. I always wanted to work in the theatre. But I also realized the wages are crap, work is unsteady etc. I decided to take a regular job and worked theatre part time. Would I preferred to work theatre full time - absolutely - but I looked at financial facts.

no jobs in baltimore?

2020-08-09 22:02:50 UTC

You need to look at where and what those jobs are. Unfortunately due to the piss poor Baltimore City Educational system, many can not qualify. The two largest employers within Baltimore are Hopkins Hospital and UMB, you need a BA just to qualify as a secretary. Blue collar jobs are non existent within the city limits.

What about factory

2020-08-09 22:04:30 UTC

CIty managed to drive out Allied Chemical, Beth Steel, McCormick Spice, Jos Bank, GM Broening Highway - etc etc. McCormick Spice moved out to Hunt Valley, Jos Bank moved to Hampstead. The others folded.

2020-08-09 22:04:55 UTC

Yikes

2020-08-09 22:06:20 UTC

Most of the jobs within the city are service jobs (restaurants, Mom and Pop shops) but the riots - sorry protests and the COVID shutdown hasn't helped anyone. It's very sad, the Inner Harbor is a shadow of what it was back in the 70's. No body will go down there any more at night - too unsafe.

2020-08-09 22:08:18 UTC

The spices! D:

2020-08-09 22:11:18 UTC

Look at York PA as another example of corporate friendly state. Granted York and Baltimore are OBVIOUSLY not the same size, but I can't throw a rock up here without hitting a factory. Tons of entry level blue collar jobs - Voit, York Barbells, Harley Davidson, Frito-Lay, Martins Potato Chip, Utz, BAE Ground Systems etc. etc.

2020-08-09 22:12:07 UTC

> The spices! D:
@Adx Depending on what they are making - you can get a contact high from the factory coming down Route 83 in Hunt Valley LOL

2020-08-09 22:13:34 UTC

Sounds like a good time

2020-08-09 22:14:39 UTC

Very interesting! I suppose me, a 20-year old growing up in minneapolis suburbs would not understand. I am actually in blue collar work myself.

2020-08-09 22:16:04 UTC

I do apartment maintenance, not exactly a job that can be moved to another place. Every building needs maintenance.

2020-08-09 22:17:46 UTC

I do appreciate not everyone can just pick and move to another location. Unfortunately, some times you have to play the hand you dealt. How are you dealing with all the unrest in Minneapolis - is that affecting you or your work?

2020-08-09 22:22:49 UTC

No. I live and work in apple valley. To get from Minneapolis to apple valley requires traveling through the suburbs or Richfield and Bloomington, crossing the Minnesota river (only drive bridge, no pedestrian), and then the city of eagan before apple valley.

It is weird planning to vote republican. I never imagined voting for this party just two years ago.

2020-08-09 22:24:05 UTC

Hey, I still can't believe that the DNC went with Biden !

2020-08-09 22:25:08 UTC

I'm not just talking president, but house, senate, etc.

2020-08-09 22:25:46 UTC

Seeing the democratic party kneel and wear robes and now seeing the leaked body cam footage just blows my mind

2020-08-09 22:25:58 UTC

I do feel sorry for the moderate/middle of the road Democrats. They have no one

2020-08-09 22:26:47 UTC

What leaked body cam footage are you referring to - the George Floyd one?

2020-08-09 22:27:39 UTC

yes, released by the daily mail

2020-08-09 22:27:52 UTC

Sean Fitzgerald's analysis was so good

2020-08-09 22:31:11 UTC

Majority of people think Floyd's death was unfortunate, rather ironic that had he been kept in jail, it wouldn't have happened.

2020-08-09 22:37:22 UTC

That's disputed. He had so much inside his body including crystal meth and covid.

2020-08-09 22:38:36 UTC

Yo far future end of the world predictions are hysterical kind of off topic my bad

2020-08-09 22:39:49 UTC

Look at all the backup the green new deal received. It's an effective strategy.

2020-08-09 22:49:56 UTC

> Did you see the campus reform video of them asking college students about the green new deal and them complaining about it after it was explained what it would stop/cancel out?
