we tried an in person tabletop thing where we used model tanks we built ourselves, only to give up when we realized we're not building legions of M4 Shermans, and other assorted tanks anytime soon

I did that long ago, when my RP group wanted a battlemap for a tank convoy mission.

I mean, we didn't build the tanks, but it was fun as a mini battle with pieces.
