Never heard of that one.

2020-10-31 08:27:49 UTC

I hate the goldfish game so much

2020-10-31 08:27:59 UTC

Yeah I wasted so much money trying to save those poor fish

2020-10-31 08:27:59 UTC

I had goldfish for three or four years

2020-10-31 08:28:07 UTC

They are smart

2020-10-31 08:28:10 UTC

But also, why win something that I now have to take care of? Like, the reward is a burden? No thanks.

2020-10-31 08:28:13 UTC

for like 3 seconds?

2020-10-31 08:28:21 UTC

at a time

2020-10-31 08:28:31 UTC

Like I cried when I had to give them away. They 100% recognized me as their owner

2020-10-31 08:28:41 UTC

Like they'd come to my side of the tank and beg for food

2020-10-31 08:28:54 UTC

They just got so big that it was cruel to keep them

2020-10-31 08:29:05 UTC

I can feel this on a personal level

2020-10-31 08:29:07 UTC

It's the fact that the fish are in a plastic bag fish don't breathe water they filter the oxygen in the water and keeping them in an airtight bag is just screaming kill me

2020-10-31 08:29:11 UTC

I'm sure you'd cry too if your Giant Food God left you

2020-10-31 08:29:45 UTC

I was afraid I'd stunt their growth which is another reason why carnivals shouldn't have that game; fish grow to the size of their tanks but their organs don't

2020-10-31 08:30:02 UTC

I once tried to keep a water turtle. It didn't take....and it was a permanent stain on my soul....feeling how soft his shell was when he decided to give up....

2020-10-31 08:30:02 UTC

ah I didn't know that

2020-10-31 08:30:15 UTC

Like it's graphic but yeah

2020-10-31 08:30:30 UTC

@JohnsMyth oh my gosh I feel that

2020-10-31 08:30:50 UTC

so how do you avoid that? just don't feed them as much?

2020-10-31 08:30:53 UTC

I gave him medicine, put him in natural light, had a large stone outside the water he could rest on. He still knew that life was over. He crawled up, ignored the food and medicine, and gave up.

2020-10-31 08:31:09 UTC

Like it feels so bad
Granted my goldfish were fine and I hope they found a good home but I sobbed because I knew I had gotten them knowing the books said not to

2020-10-31 08:31:14 UTC

And when I had to scoop him up to bury him, his shell was as as soft as his skin. Super sad.

2020-10-31 08:31:31 UTC

> so how do you avoid that? just don't feed them as much?
@Dante No, just don't get them if you don't have a 40+ gallon tank

2020-10-31 08:31:44 UTC

ah ok

2020-10-31 08:31:50 UTC

It's always good to know about the animal you're trying to raise

2020-10-31 08:31:56 UTC

very true

2020-10-31 08:32:10 UTC

Like fr they get huge, especially comets
I was foolish and wanted a goldfish so badly that I ignored the books and believed the pet shop owner

2020-10-31 08:32:15 UTC

I wish parents would do that too

2020-10-31 08:32:19 UTC

HOWEVER. I've been watching this guy on youtube who creates natural environments for fish. Looks like a ton of work, but they really thrive, and it's super therapeutic just watching how he sets the whole thing up.

2020-10-31 08:32:22 UTC

They were small enough at the time

2020-10-31 08:32:38 UTC

I had a pet tortoise once and it was basically a rescue because we found it on the side of the road about 3 weeks later my stepdad and I drove to the river and he said he was going to release it by throwing it in and I said are you stupid they can't swim

2020-10-31 08:32:46 UTC

Foo the Flowerhorn, that's who it is.

2020-10-31 08:33:22 UTC

Dang I miss my goldfish now
But seriously, they're so much smarter than people give them credit. The three seconds thing is a lie; they knew when lunch and breakfast and dinner was

2020-10-31 08:33:30 UTC

I didn't take as good care of them as I should have

2020-10-31 08:33:31 UTC

Duuuude I came across a HUGE snapper turtle. Like 18" shell in diameter. Tried to keep it until we found out they were actually supposed to be killed on sight in our county.

2020-10-31 08:33:38 UTC

Oh dannng

2020-10-31 08:33:45 UTC

> Duuuude I came across a HUGE snapper turtle. Like 18" shell in diameter. Tried to keep it until we found out they were actually supposed to be killed on sight in our county.
@JohnsMyth why is that?

2020-10-31 08:33:49 UTC

Snapping turtles suck

2020-10-31 08:33:58 UTC

Yes snapping turtles are nothing to be messed with you can lose a finger so quickly

2020-10-31 08:33:59 UTC

They destroy everything
