Economically, the North was better off without slavery cause they had enough immigrants to do menial tasks and after Uncle Tom’s Cabin and all the backlash from the Fugitive slave laws so they already had some resentment to slavery

Well it gets tricky there because with the Dred Scott decision, it basically said “slavery is legal everywhere” because they are properly and federal government can’t restrict property
