Universal healthcare and free access to higher education @𝒫𝓇ℯ𝓈𝒾𝒹ℯ𝓃𝓉
Do you mean university with higher education?
Yes
This is also true and I’d assume because blacks were held back from learning so they were e motivated to do so after achieving that new equality opportunity
No
I don’t support it
Can I explain why?
i saw somewhere that inner city schools have more money per student than elsewhere. it's not about the money it's how you use it
I think uni should be free, you might need it but you can still get a good job with a high school degree
no
university can't be free
If we want people to get better jobs and earn more money they require an education, they can't get that when they cant afford it, if society is expected to be a meritocracy this is a basic requirement @𝒫𝓇ℯ𝓈𝒾𝒹ℯ𝓃𝓉
well, certainly makes you question why back when discrimination was supposedly worst, blacks perform equal or better. maybe society fails them. maybe cultures. i don't know
Yea it proves my point about schools getting more money, bad teachers and bad spending
Oof I meant not free
They did not have the victim mentality as they do now thanks to democrats
sure. thanks to politicians in general, not exclusively democrats
So let me explain why I don’t agree
i don't want more taxes to pay for someone else's public college
I think blacks would be more motivated when they are cheerful of the civil rights movement
Not necessarily, there may be a few bad apples of Republicans but democrats want more government interference of black america which has not helped, such as welfare
already too many people with college degrees. a bachelor's doesn't cut it in the job market anymore. you need a master's to get a well paying job.
if you give everyone a degree it will devalue even further
remember that republicans and democrats are the same until recently.
Well just because they have college doesn’t mean they will use it. Like 1/2 drop out
Free access to education doesnt = a free qualification @Nightenhelser
Also this is really interesting but I’m gonna play uno with family. This was fun to talk about
College is over rated
You have to work to achieve the qualification
why would we give it to people who won't work for it
What?
So I don’t agree because universal healthcare is only going to increase taxes for Americans when we don’t want high taxes and not only that universal healthcare is not going to have better treatment than healthcare that you pay for because it’s going to be more common so there are going to be more people taken care of so it’s going to take a longer time for people to have appointments, procedures, etc. I have an anecdote which might not be as reliable but my English teacher served in the army for 20 years and he was qualified for free healthcare and this healthcare took him 14 months to set up an appointment so he had to go to his own doctor that he paid for it to actually do the procedure
won't that increase the amount of money we use in taxes to pay for those people
i'll refute on that. in vietnam we have A LOT of qualification and people with certificates, but not many succeeded. sometimes you don't have to "work" to earn the qualification. also, i'll add that in vietnam you've to pay for university/college anyway.
it won't be "free" its getting paid somehow
Technically it’s found a loophole or something but I get what your saying
And about free education I don’t support that either because there are scholarships there are grants there is financial aid for people who want to have a higher education but cannot afford it and there are even scholarships for minorities and women so I don’t understand why we would need it to be free when we already have those advantages right in front of us as long as we work for them
Yes it’s why I don’t agree because it will raise taxes. Canada has free healthcare but it doesn’t mean the treatment is as luxurious and beneficial as healthcare that is paid for
oh i've heard horror stories of people waiting months for treatment and then they just come to US
Canada’s healthcare is okay for something minor like a broken finger, for surgeries got better going to America
yup. loophole exists in any system. but the honest assumption that for university you can "earn" your qualification is not wholeheartedly true
