You effectively cripple the company, as they don’t receive money from as many people

2020-10-05 17:23:20 UTC

Yes. But, boycotting is not theft. The definition is: withdraw from commercial or social relations with (a country, organization, or person) as a punishment or protest. By continuing to use their product, you are not withdrawing from interactions, but stealing their product.

2020-10-05 17:23:36 UTC

Lets say you want to boycott Ralphs, what you would do is go shop at Vons instead. Give the competitor the money. Not rob them.

2020-10-05 17:24:34 UTC

Stealing because we disagree with their political standpoint makes us no better than the looters we see in the riots

2020-10-05 17:24:42 UTC

> Lets say you want to boycott Ralphs, what you would do is go shop at Vons instead. Give the competitor the money. Not rob them.
@Porcupioneer with games you don’t have a bunch of choices like you would in that case

2020-10-05 17:24:52 UTC

Sure you do.

2020-10-05 17:25:03 UTC

Then don't play the game! or play a different game!

2020-10-05 17:25:13 UTC

it's not hard

2020-10-05 17:25:19 UTC

You could choose to play other games made by other developers or not play any games. Or better yet, make your own game!

2020-10-05 17:25:44 UTC

There you go

2020-10-05 17:25:47 UTC

I make my own game

2020-10-05 17:25:59 UTC

Company sees game

2020-10-05 17:26:00 UTC

Commie you are wrong on this one I’m afraid. No amount of argument will convince anyone that pirating is a form of boycott or that its not harmful for the company

2020-10-05 17:26:03 UTC

Great! Then we can buy it for the value you determine.

2020-10-05 17:26:13 UTC

“Ooga booga game too similar to ours”

2020-10-05 17:26:26 UTC

I have now been thrown into a lawsuit

2020-10-05 17:26:28 UTC

See, but that's on you. Make a unique game.

2020-10-05 17:26:58 UTC

You shouldn't be so dependent on video games that you have to steal them because the price is too high

2020-10-05 17:27:17 UTC

> See, but that's on you. Make a unique game.
@Froski that’s not the point though. If I wanted to play a different game I’d play a different game

2020-10-05 17:29:10 UTC

Lets say I really wanted a gaming PC, but all I could afford was a old Mac laptop, does that make me entitled to a gaming PC?

2020-10-05 17:29:28 UTC

I’m not entitled to a game

2020-10-05 17:29:35 UTC

then why pirate it?

2020-10-05 17:29:39 UTC

But it doesn’t mean I can’t go out of my way to get it

2020-10-05 17:30:02 UTC

Okay, well, if you are so dependent on playing that game, then the issue is whether you will take a morally wrong path and steal the game, or actually boycott the game. Does the value boycott get outweighed by your "want" to play a game? Does your want to play a game outweigh the moral wrong of theft? Short of the online marketplaces for most games, it is the same as going into a store and grabbing it off the shelf.

2020-10-05 17:30:11 UTC

I’m not arguing whether or not piracy is theft or whether it should be legal

2020-10-05 17:30:29 UTC

I’m arguing that it shouldn’t be as much of a punishment as it is

2020-10-05 17:30:54 UTC

What is the normal punishment for pirating? Not the maximum, the normal punishment?

2020-10-05 17:32:07 UTC

Okay, lets make sure that we're all on the same page. Lets all pause, and without accusing anyone or bringing up anyone else's POV, lets each write our own personal opinion of pirating videogames. No evidence yet, just our viewpoint.

2020-10-05 17:32:26 UTC

ive had friends get letters from their isp's saying that if they are caught pirating anything else they would lose their internet

2020-10-05 17:32:41 UTC

Guys why am I afraid to send a message debunking a liberal argument to a casual friend of mine? He posts anti Trump stuff all the time and it’s false, I just feel like I can’t even respond

2020-10-05 17:32:46 UTC

Eveing All

2020-10-05 17:33:07 UTC

Good morning Amy

2020-10-05 17:33:21 UTC

Well, I'm stepping away from this discussion. Need to keep working.

2020-10-05 17:33:28 UTC

Good afternoon y'all

2020-10-05 17:33:32 UTC

I see the new fake news is "Trump Faking Covid Sickness" to play away from TAX questions LOL

2020-10-05 17:33:41 UTC

Hello

2020-10-05 17:33:56 UTC

See ya Frosks!

2020-10-05 17:34:00 UTC

Was Trump really just signing a blank piece of paper that time?

2020-10-05 17:34:58 UTC

Trump wants to hide his TAX returns to hide his true wealth , NOT to hide that he prob paid no tax 🙂 As he did that legally!

2020-10-05 17:36:15 UTC

I don't think we are talking about the same thing
