Gender not sex

2021-01-05 00:48:01 UTC

Separate ideas

2021-01-05 00:48:05 UTC

Sex is biological

2021-01-05 00:48:07 UTC

Science

2021-01-05 00:48:15 UTC

Gender is sociocultural

2021-01-05 00:48:23 UTC

Not saying you're wrong

2021-01-05 00:48:39 UTC

Just saying we have different outlooks on a topic with no true right answer

2021-01-05 00:48:41 UTC

sex and gender are the same thing tho

2021-01-05 00:48:57 UTC

The human brain and body are among the most complex structures of the known universe

2021-01-05 00:49:20 UTC

To a certain extent. Sex is more chromosome and genetically based. Gender can vary across cultures

2021-01-05 00:49:29 UTC

on the doctor birth certificate it says the sex of the baby, male or female

2021-01-05 00:49:32 UTC

But it really depends

2021-01-05 00:49:37 UTC

Yes the sex you're right

2021-01-05 00:49:52 UTC

But chromosomes are raerly checked

2021-01-05 00:49:58 UTC

You could be XXY and never know

2021-01-05 00:50:21 UTC

search up the definition of gender on google

2021-01-05 00:50:40 UTC

It is an international foundation. It's fine to be skeptical. I don't trust the government lmao

2021-01-05 00:50:50 UTC

I check more sources than just Oxford dictionary

2021-01-05 00:50:56 UTC

But I still will :)

2021-01-05 00:51:40 UTC

search up gender and then search up sexes

2021-01-05 00:51:44 UTC

"especially when considered with reference to social and cultural differences rather than biological ones"

2021-01-05 00:51:47 UTC

Google like you said

2021-01-05 00:52:01 UTC

yeah

2021-01-05 00:52:16 UTC

"refers to the biological differences between males and females, such as the genitalia and genetic differences. “Gender” is more difficult to define, but it can refer to the role of a male or female in society, known as a gender role, or an individual's concept of themselves, or gender identity."

2021-01-05 00:52:22 UTC

Thats what I said-

2021-01-05 00:52:29 UTC

there's more definitions to it, that's just one of them

2021-01-05 00:52:37 UTC

Exactly-

2021-01-05 00:52:42 UTC

ok

2021-01-05 00:52:51 UTC

...

2021-01-05 00:52:54 UTC

But semi traditional gender roles are natural expressions of biological realities. If people don't want to live like that then I applaud them for being themselves. But you don't have to invent new terms and concepts, like new genders. Especially not new pronouns. It can also confuse children early in development. No evidence of it being harmful for older kids 14+ though iirc in terms of higher rates of gender dysphoria and other mental disorders(could be wrong).

2021-01-05 00:52:54 UTC

GG @Lizard Wizard, you just advanced to level 3!

2021-01-05 00:52:57 UTC

good to know

2021-01-05 00:53:15 UTC

You can be a tomboy etc. I think people should be who they want to be. But you don't have to invent new genders for that

2021-01-05 00:53:28 UTC

Neo pronouns are a whole different issue lmao. I won't even get to those

2021-01-05 00:53:32 UTC

THIS

2021-01-05 00:53:39 UTC

^^^

2021-01-05 00:53:41 UTC

That right there

2021-01-05 00:53:47 UTC

exactly i agree with you

2021-01-05 00:54:20 UTC

like i don't understand genderfluid, i understand the concept but i don't understand why there's a word for that concept

2021-01-05 00:54:20 UTC

Did we just find common ground or <:eyes_zoom:606564192035667983>

2021-01-05 00:54:41 UTC

we did in fact just officially find common ground
