I have avoided a few fights by looking at people like that lol

2020-12-09 16:34:47 UTC

I recommend not doing that. You are danger close and closing your field of vision.

2020-12-09 16:36:51 UTC

Actually closing distance is good depending on your tactics and style. That said, I was referring to the "crazy eyes" I have also said "Let's do it asshole" 🤣 most miscreants back off if you don't show weakness.

2020-12-09 16:38:08 UTC

ok....

2020-12-09 16:48:30 UTC

It really isn't, you have a narrow field of vision.

2020-12-09 16:48:47 UTC

Remember, you're built to be a hunter, not prey.

2020-12-09 16:50:15 UTC

This is why ranging tactics are extremely useful in hand-to-hand combat, especially if you have more reach.

2020-12-09 16:51:17 UTC

Also, that close, you can't see them if they pull a knife before you get stabbed.

2020-12-09 16:52:05 UTC

Or worse, they pull a gun.

2020-12-09 16:53:30 UTC

Like this is the exact reason spears were such a good combat weapon.

2020-12-09 16:53:54 UTC

And why Leonidas used them.

2020-12-09 17:01:06 UTC

we should have someone with forensic and EM experience to tell us how people get killed in barfights...

2020-12-09 17:01:44 UTC

Stabbings, punches to the nose in a very particular way, or falling and hitting their head I presume.

2020-12-09 17:02:25 UTC

If you pull a gun in a bar, you’re an idiot!

2020-12-09 17:02:50 UTC

We weren't talking specifically about a bar.

2020-12-09 17:04:48 UTC

Humans are not built to be hunters anymore! The convenience of life itself has made most people too soft to be given that name! Sadly, the tactics of combat are also a lost art in today’s age as conflict in any form is frowned upon.

2020-12-09 17:04:48 UTC

@{CAP}Radeon, you just advanced to level 1!

2020-12-09 17:05:18 UTC

Humans have not just evolved out of their predatory body. We still have the bodies of predators.

2020-12-09 17:05:30 UTC

Look at your eyes, look at their position.

2020-12-09 17:05:32 UTC

For instance, children are taught to turn the other cheek when they are bullied rather than standing up for themselves.

2020-12-09 17:05:35 UTC

"doc, have you seen many people maimed in fights in pubs and outside clubs?"
"why, I sure have!"
"whats a typical scenario?"
"oh, one of the more common ones is a guy with 0.1 % thinking he has it down, blows himself up, get in a smaller guys face and tells him: lets go!"
"The smaller guy then brings out his tool, and due to the now greatly reduced field of view, the first guy doesnt even know what happened until the coroner says: "whow-straight to the renal artery!"

2020-12-09 17:05:38 UTC

Look at your teeth.

2020-12-09 17:06:29 UTC

Lol doc is definitely right about that one!

2020-12-09 17:07:39 UTC

So I was right, stabbings. And yes, I brought up that you can't see anything with your reduced field of view meaning you're never going to see yourself get stabbed.

2020-12-09 17:07:44 UTC

Huzzah.

2020-12-09 17:07:55 UTC

indeed

2020-12-09 17:08:02 UTC

It depends, but more than likely yes!

2020-12-09 17:08:32 UTC

many stabbed victims last words: "He punched me in the kidney, the coward!"

2020-12-09 17:08:35 UTC

People who are not trained in managing Adrenalin response are particularly vulnerable to that.

2020-12-09 17:08:44 UTC

As I'm hoping people notice, when you look ahead, you have a blindspot around a foot or two in front of your direct front.

2020-12-09 17:09:01 UTC

[kidney here is an example. It could just as well be, "he jabbed my in my balls!"]

2020-12-09 17:09:17 UTC

The femoral artery is a popular target. Knife fighters know about it.

2020-12-09 17:09:27 UTC

Very easy to hit too.

2020-12-09 17:09:37 UTC

the victim rarely sees the knife.

2020-12-09 17:09:42 UTC

People don't normally protect their legs.

2020-12-09 17:09:49 UTC

tunnel vision + danger close

2020-12-09 17:10:33 UTC

you lose your peripheral vision at a HR around 150 (adrenaline induced)

2020-12-09 17:10:35 UTC

It takes about 1-2 minutes to bleed out from a good femoral artery hit if you don't stop the bloodflow.

2020-12-09 17:10:44 UTC

@Doc they do, but the Brachial artery is much better!

2020-12-09 17:11:05 UTC

@{CAP}Radeon harder to hit as you have to expect some kind of wailing defense.
