Did you know this before your show last night?

2020-12-09 17:36:57 UTC

Didn't they originally use that on Cobras and Apaches?

2020-12-09 17:37:10 UTC

It looks familiar.

2020-12-09 17:37:11 UTC

No, cobras and apaches use a 300mm Vulcan.

2020-12-09 17:37:20 UTC

30mm*

2020-12-09 17:37:36 UTC

Lol 300mm cannon on an attack chopper???? Yes please!

2020-12-09 17:37:41 UTC

Lmao.

2020-12-09 17:37:55 UTC

I'm pretty sure that'd interfere with the flight.

2020-12-09 17:38:03 UTC

How to do a flip in a helicopter.

2020-12-09 17:38:20 UTC

I’m pretty sure that is 4 inches shy of the main deck guns on Mighty Mo!

2020-12-09 17:38:49 UTC

Not to mention I presume a lot of helicopters would just start falling apart after shooting it.

2020-12-09 17:38:59 UTC

@Maw no problem, you just have the gun counteract the rotor

2020-12-09 17:39:15 UTC

Lol use them to turn the rotor...

2020-12-09 17:39:22 UTC

The concussive force of it would likely tear the rotors.

2020-12-09 17:39:30 UTC

Oops I'm in the wrong room I think..sorry

2020-12-09 17:39:46 UTC

Let’s be honest, the recoil from that would probably sheer the fuselage in two.

2020-12-09 17:39:51 UTC

That too.

2020-12-09 17:40:05 UTC

Would have to be a free floating system.

2020-12-09 17:40:10 UTC

And even then.

2020-12-09 17:41:17 UTC

It would likely blow out the glass in any current cockpit. I'm pretty sure they don't use bulletproof glass. It might be more resistant to concussive forces, but we're talking about basically a C4 charge at the tip of the barrel.

2020-12-09 17:42:37 UTC

It's 120mm cannons on the AC-130 yea?

2020-12-09 17:42:53 UTC

Like akin to the Abrams main gun.

2020-12-09 17:44:21 UTC

Abrams main gun, is a smooth bore cannon. The howitzers on on the specter I’m not sure are similar in build but there is 1 120mm gun I believe.

2020-12-09 17:45:14 UTC

I’m sorry, the AC130 I believe actually only has 105mm guns

2020-12-09 17:47:34 UTC

Could be due to their proximity to the propellers/engines.

2020-12-09 17:47:43 UTC

That's a lot of concussive force.

2020-12-09 17:48:10 UTC

I think the reason they don’t put the 120mm cannon on them is because it is too heavy.

2020-12-09 17:48:10 UTC

@{CAP}Radeon, you just advanced to level 4!

2020-12-09 17:48:28 UTC

It's already a flying boat.

2020-12-09 17:48:53 UTC

with a 105 its more like a flying Leopard

2020-12-09 17:49:29 UTC

Kinda, boats in general have stupid amounts of weapon systems.

2020-12-09 17:49:33 UTC

Even the smaller ones.

2020-12-09 17:50:19 UTC

Lol sea based vessels have far higher capacity for weapon systems.

2020-12-09 17:50:19 UTC

Its a very american design. Probably the most american plane there is.

2020-12-09 17:50:23 UTC

designed in texas.

2020-12-09 17:50:25 UTC

Yepper.

2020-12-09 17:50:31 UTC

It's due to the limitations.

2020-12-09 17:50:49 UTC

"yall, think about this? We take a tank gun and mount it sideways in a transport plane!"

2020-12-09 17:50:52 UTC

The most American plane is arguably the A-10 though.

2020-12-09 17:51:10 UTC

It's a plane literally designed around the biggest gun they could find at the time.
