@Maw Unless your test is computerized and has a multitasking section.

2020-11-28 21:10:14 UTC

Is this a General IQ discussion or are you alluding to an individual?

2020-11-28 21:10:39 UTC

They are a little off track today but they usually share some common ground

2020-11-28 21:10:43 UTC

It's relating to a discussion on IQ and statistical analysis.

2020-11-28 21:10:48 UTC

@Doc That's what they are doing but I was surprised at how few people are actually doing the work.

2020-11-28 21:11:34 UTC

Certainly regions can have different average IQ scores.

2020-11-28 21:11:55 UTC

IQ is connected to culture, so....yes.

2020-11-28 21:11:57 UTC

Good folks with mean IQ"s live happier lives?

2020-11-28 21:12:03 UTC

It's likely due to genes if anything.

2020-11-28 21:12:10 UTC

Genes and culture.

2020-11-28 21:12:14 UTC

Ignorance is bliss @busillis

2020-11-28 21:12:17 UTC

@Maw genes and data, yes.

2020-11-28 21:12:19 UTC

IQ is cultural

2020-11-28 21:12:30 UTC

It's much more so about what you choose to measure.

2020-11-28 21:12:57 UTC

Which is cultural, I reckon.

2020-11-28 21:12:59 UTC

@Zuluzeit IQ is trying to measure how well someone will function in the US armed forces in 1925

2020-11-28 21:13:11 UTC

It's a very flawed scale, yes.

2020-11-28 21:13:11 UTC

Hahaha

2020-11-28 21:13:28 UTC

Does IQ affect common sense🤔

2020-11-28 21:13:32 UTC

They're working on it.

2020-11-28 21:13:35 UTC

No one think that IQ is biological?

2020-11-28 21:13:35 UTC

Unfortunately no.

2020-11-28 21:13:35 UTC

@james j not true people who analyze everything are tormented

2020-11-28 21:13:44 UTC

Genes would be biology.

2020-11-28 21:13:57 UTC

Sorry didn’t see Maws comment

2020-11-28 21:14:01 UTC

@robxtom no behavior can be biological. No behavior genes exist.

2020-11-28 21:14:15 UTC

In a living hell of over analysis

2020-11-28 21:14:44 UTC

Ofc hormones have a huge impact

2020-11-28 21:15:03 UTC

@busillis that was my point. If you smart enough to live in a suitable condition but not smart enough to see the issues you will be happy

2020-11-28 21:15:30 UTC

@robxtom That's been a popularly controversial topic since The Bell Curve came out. Before that, it was mostly limited to specialized academics.

2020-11-28 21:15:39 UTC

@james j 110% true

2020-11-28 21:16:03 UTC

Is this true? I definitely feel you can inherit certain traits?

2020-11-28 21:16:36 UTC

@Beth of course you can. But it is measured in what culture values. Never not biased.

2020-11-28 21:17:11 UTC

You are born with certain impulses that can shape your personality

2020-11-28 21:17:23 UTC

You can inherit physical traits that give you a stronger disposition one way or another.

2020-11-28 21:17:30 UTC

Twin studies are interesting to look at this

2020-11-28 21:17:31 UTC

But it's almost entirely cultural from that point on.

2020-11-28 21:17:33 UTC

@Beth what you inherit is neuron growth. Grow-grow-branch. Grow-grow-branch. Or Grow-branch grow-branch. The more branches, the more synapsis (contact between neurons). That is where data is processed. So you inherit data capacity. Nothing else.

2020-11-28 21:17:34 UTC

To my understanding.

2020-11-28 21:18:29 UTC

I've noticed that family seem the past cultural tradition...
