I think women are unjustly underpaid, on the whole. I just don't think you can safely legislate in a way that doesn't jack up the labor market. Sucks but the cure is worse than the disease. Cultural change is needed and it's inching in the right direction all the time.
I also think it's wildly exaggerated by misrepresenting statistics.
I think the wage gap is maybe 5%.
There is a lot of misrepresenting/misapplying statistics these days. It's a cancer.

Wage gap stats are always presented in a political/mischievous way I don’t trust them. It may exist and some psychology supports that but I haven’t done the analysis myself and I don’t trust the politicians
More like half... They would hire in a "big shot" CFO for twice what she was paid, but she did most of the work. They'd leave after a year or so and she would step in - continuing without missing a beat... Until they hired a new big shot.
That's pretty ridiculous if true.
I'm not aware of all the variables, but I certainly understand your concern.
@TaLoN132 That is by no means isolated to women. It's an extremely common practice, especially when you're preparing to sell. It can take a while.
Don't get me wrong, I think women should be paid equally.
No ands-ifs-or-buts about it.
Like I said anecdotal, but in male dominated professions, women are often treated poorly.

It's paying for the position. You can get away with someone doing the work to get by and bypass having to recognize the position. Happens every day to both genders.
