Yes many conservatives were against that and many conservatives in government were against that . The liberals of the day won that battle @Maw
@William Dinan true but there are how many printing companies? at least one per country. There is almost no realistic international competition
What's to stop someone from trying to do that again?
And if they did, and the citizens had no weapons, then what?
Yer fucked lol?
@macsen it was easier but was the consumer protected? You could sell a guy a broken house back then and skip town with no consequences
@Phil. If you read Ben Franklin's autobiography you will find that 200+ years ago there were already multiple printers in major cities. That quickly expanded into multiple languages ect
@Maw they didn’t just take away the rights of black people, they were seen as second class citizens prior to the civil rights acts. The civil rights act broke the old paradigm that existed before. The government didn’t create that it was already the status quo
@macsen yes its what i am saying. You have gone from thousands of capitalists to just a handful.
@james j. The consumer was protected by the community, people dealt with each other based on famiky name
Bro jim crow laws literally existed, what?
Are you sure you're a lefty?
Who pushed the Civil Rights Act?
@William Dinan liberals , non southerners
Yet Trump exists.
Hm.
@james j You didn't deal with those who weren't from your town or you did so at your own risk. It works well on the small scale, obviously not for large corporations.
Conservatives. Liberty seekers.
Yes , so what does trump have to do with the prevalent attitude of how society felt about black people back then @Maw
@William Dinan yes liberals of their time. Today’s liberal is tomorrow’s conservative
Do you not think it has a reflection on society now?
Like, I can't believe how you're turning yourself into a pretzel over this.
I don’t think your are following
I am following.
Back then people were more racist and had more racist attitudes towards black people
Do you feel Trump has an impact on society as it is? What societal norms are?
At that Time not much different from today. Majority of the Black Population actually have Conservative Values.
That was not the government setting the tone
Is Trump not the government?
Why are we talking about Trump
Because he's a big part of the government.
You were trying to say the government is why people were more racist back then
And people like to say he's racist, and it's creating more white nationalists.
No, I'm saying the government isn't some sort of benevolent entity.
That's always looking out for you.
Government lags behind the majority of people’s wants
That’s why you as a citizen have to elect people that represent you.
