Once upon a time, there was this thing called the plague.

@Beth even more troubling is this study, basically you can do everything correct in tightly controlled circumstances and this virus will still spread, we can slow the spread but we can't stop the spread essentially: https://medicalxpress.com/news/2020-11-marine-reveals-asymptomatic-sars-cov-transmission.html

My favorite is at spin class seeing people work out for 45 minutes, on bikes 10 ft apart wearing a mask the whole time šŸ˜‚ Seems damaging.

2020-12-16 17:23:16 UTC

wear your mask if you feel safer but i dont understand how a piece of cloth can stop something that is 10 - 100 times smaller than a bacteria.

2020-12-16 17:23:32 UTC

Effective Outcomes are probably better achieved with voluntary participation rather than Force.

2020-12-16 17:24:26 UTC

No in this case

2020-12-16 17:25:08 UTC

I understand that measures need to be put in place to ā€œslow the spreadā€. If we canā€™t stop the spread, excuse my french, but what the fuck are we doing? Peopleā€™s lives are being destroyed by lockdowns etc.

2020-12-16 17:25:10 UTC

I hate conversations about quarantine because nobody has the full discussion. And nincompoops just say errmygheeerd trump has blood on his hands. He must have personally killed 300,000+ people šŸ„“

2020-12-16 17:25:11 UTC

Really.

2020-12-16 17:25:34 UTC

Lol. One of the best masks Iā€™ve seen was someone wrapped some lulu lemon leggings around their head and called it a mask over at a sushi joint.

2020-12-16 17:26:27 UTC

yes the real deaths from the covid will come as a result of the many social consequences. For example, how many people are getting cancer treatment right now?

2020-12-16 17:26:28 UTC

@Phil, you just advanced to level 17!

2020-12-16 17:26:48 UTC

True true true

2020-12-16 17:26:51 UTC

This is the point I was just trying to make šŸ¤” @meglide

2020-12-16 17:27:07 UTC

šŸ‘ šŸ„µ

2020-12-16 17:27:42 UTC

unfortunately, we're playing spin the wheel in a game of the law of unintended consequences

2020-12-16 17:27:47 UTC

@busillis any news with regards to aliens taking part in the coup?

2020-12-16 17:27:58 UTC

How about just because we are doing less business with other small countries who relied on that for their own survival. There has been a doubling of debt and there has been a three-fold increase in child malnutrition.

2020-12-16 17:28:15 UTC

No yet...

2020-12-16 17:28:28 UTC

I worry about what will be left at the end of all this...

2020-12-16 17:28:43 UTC

This.

2020-12-16 17:28:48 UTC

yes this is a good point. many charities in the developing world will see a massive drop in their donations. i think even the WHO admitted millions could die as a consequence

2020-12-16 17:28:49 UTC

I personally wear a Mask in places that they request them. I do it as a sign to put the Employees at rest. I don't wear it expecting any Benefit from it.

2020-12-16 17:29:18 UTC

I do the. Same.

2020-12-16 17:29:23 UTC

@William Dinan Do you, like me, draw a cat's face on it?

2020-12-16 17:29:32 UTC

@William Dinan dont forget to move your mask out of the way to cough

2020-12-16 17:30:07 UTC

Like the corpse (Biden)

2020-12-16 17:31:01 UTC

Only mostly dead...and the most important thing not Trump.

2020-12-16 17:32:22 UTC

Maybe put "If You Can Read This. You are Too Close"....lol

2020-12-16 17:32:49 UTC

Same. If people like to believe the masks šŸŽ are some magical shield, Iā€™ll play along. Thereā€™s plenty of conflict in 2020, making some McDonalds min. wage employee make a scene kicking you out because store policy seems unnecessary.

2020-12-16 17:32:53 UTC

If trump said wear a mask im pretty sure they would say he was authoritarian and oppressive

2020-12-16 17:33:26 UTC

@Phil pretty sure you're right about that.

2020-12-16 17:33:49 UTC

oh yeah ... and the long-term consequences on health and well-being of millions, there's a trade off space here that we have very much failed to navigate properly

2020-12-16 17:34:40 UTC

Did you see the studies suggesting that covid makes men sterile?

2020-12-16 17:34:45 UTC

I agree. Causing Drama or Stress over a Minor Inconvenience is not a Hill I want to Die On.

2020-12-16 17:35:39 UTC

I heard anecdotally that the use of ventilators drives the virus deeper in the lungs.

2020-12-16 17:36:25 UTC

correct just keep the grocery stores open and I'm happy to wear a mask while shopping

2020-12-16 17:37:07 UTC

True. That seems reasonable. Thereā€™s plenty of space to keep your distance.

2020-12-16 17:37:45 UTC

Yes. Eating is more important to me rather than making a Political Statement in a Grocery Store.
