@meglide congress is run by people in the pockets of corporations

2020-12-19 15:07:15 UTC

Short term profits over long term gains

2020-12-19 15:08:02 UTC

i agree with you on something

2020-12-19 15:09:23 UTC

“Agree” or agree

2020-12-19 15:39:08 UTC

I can't believe the log jam on the hill. When Covid hit n Trump totally in charge, things rolled out incl stimulus...boom boom boom. ..last year. Why is Pelosi still around? Yeah. Many issues.

2020-12-19 15:40:19 UTC

Will be like Bush n Obama without trump

christmas in london is cancelled...

2020-12-19 15:47:41 UTC

There was only one stimulus bill back in March where the GOP gave most of the money to corporations, that’s what created the log jam back then @RoseRN

2020-12-19 15:48:18 UTC

It wasn’t smooth and took longer than it needed to be

2020-12-19 15:55:21 UTC

I got one, I have a small business.

2020-12-19 15:55:38 UTC

Maybe so but much longer now. I am "ok" compared to others. Just saying..... It did seems there was some oversight to prevent a money grab.

2020-12-19 15:58:10 UTC

Alot of people got caught here in vegas gambling with pp loans. I have to agree with Rose it was just an oversight issue.

2020-12-19 15:58:50 UTC

Phil, so sorry to know about Christmas being cancelled. Some people still planning Christmas this year in Arizona. With family.

2020-12-19 16:00:39 UTC

i was planning to go to family but now i have to stay home 😦

2020-12-19 16:01:06 UTC

They tried with the oversight, at least. But if they send out 600 dollars as Obama did, what, a decade ago? Gonna send it to Trump fund or legal fund or something. Sure I could use the money, but come on, that won't even pay rent.

2020-12-19 16:01:40 UTC

@MyxnamesxjEff25 the intent is to sustain people thought a lock down to be used to not go under. You need recurring payments to accomplish this. If people gamble it away they can’t complain about not feeding their family .

2020-12-19 16:03:14 UTC

james j you mean the one with the pork in it like 25m to Kennedy center , The “Corporation for Public Broadcasting,” or NPR and PBS, will receive a grant of $75,000,000. However, this amount of money could have bought over 555,000 test kits. how about this one? Allocated to a fund called “Migration and Refugee Assistance,” another $350 million was designated to help illegal aliens settle during the pandemic. You mean this one.

2020-12-19 16:03:20 UTC

@RoseRN that’s the point the stimulus checks were non comprehensive and went to big businesses rather than people who really need it and at a useful amount

2020-12-19 16:05:38 UTC

Gosh, Phil, that sucks. I work in covid units when the initial one fills up. While most people hardly get sick, it is really bad when bad and definitely not like the flue. Last winter, I knew no one that has it. Right now, my sister knows 3, all home sick with it. I know 2. One at home n one in hospital. Not sure what to think but healthy people, should be able to discern what and how they want to live. Merry Christmas anyway. I hope you can Skype.

2020-12-19 16:06:29 UTC

Pelosi is a parasite

2020-12-19 16:06:54 UTC

Sorry Phil, last sentence not meant for you but there it is.

2020-12-19 16:06:55 UTC

@RoseRN, you just advanced to level 7!

2020-12-19 16:06:59 UTC

@bham78 Compare that to the gop bill that went to non vulnerable companies and gave less money to people and small businesses. Even if you include money for non profit organizations. The “pelosi” bill (that was a response to the corporate pork bill ) served the people and the community more than the “McConnell” bill

2020-12-19 16:07:59 UTC

@RoseRN the gop is more to blame than pelosi when it comes to the formulation of useful long term stimulus package.

2020-12-19 16:11:24 UTC

then why did they pass it? because they got what they wanted for themselves It was poorly written and unscrupulous corp took advantage. With no oversight, it was asking for what they got. Of course no one is trying to get it back.

2020-12-19 16:11:25 UTC

@bham78, you just advanced to level 2!

2020-12-19 16:11:27 UTC

Agreed my business was a booming after the lock down here, because of these stimulus checks and in away saved vegas from going under so it's not all a waste. I think the biggest issue I had was getting employees off unemployment they were making 1400 a week and it was hard getting them to come back to work because who wants to work for their money instead of getting it for free?

2020-12-19 16:12:12 UTC

@bham78 they didn’t pass it because the gop controls the senate and they wanted money for corporations over people

2020-12-19 16:12:44 UTC

the march bill

2020-12-19 16:13:04 UTC

Yes

2020-12-19 16:13:14 UTC

The problem is nothing is free though. Pay me now or pay me later but ultimately payment has to occur. That's the problem with the stimulus and that's the problem with the boosted unemployment benefits. It has to be paid at some point. Unfortunately it will probably be paid in the worst way possible and that is through the destruction of the US dollar.

@MyxnamesxjEff25, you just advanced to level 3!

2020-12-19 16:14:19 UTC

Ok. So now I am in over my head maybe. I watched as closely as I could. Banks did not get a bail out. States got funding n while we were rationing PPEs at the hospital, all the roads were fixed. I had to buy my own PPEs at times but boy, I tell you, the drive to work was smoooothe. Nice roads. Just an observation. I am pretty pissed about it all but FBI did investigate and cut many corporations off from what I know. And when New York wanted 40,000 ventilators...No, Governor wanted $ for 40,000 ventilators, govt oversight found ventilators in a warehouse in New Jersey n they never even used them all. So it appears they were trying to watch budget and have much $ left over from initial bundle released for Covid. That is how I see it but I could be wrong. I am watching closely the whole healthcare thing. Prescription prices going down. Trump has been better for healthcare than last 2 presidents. Just what I observed. I could be wrong.

2020-12-19 16:14:31 UTC

free aint free for sure

2020-12-19 16:15:44 UTC

Free ain't free for sure. Waiting for other shoe to drop certainly

2020-12-19 16:16:08 UTC

@meglide if the choice is between businesses and families going under , starving and big non vulnerable businesses the former is preferable. You are just bringing up a broader point that has existed for decades.

2020-12-19 16:19:13 UTC

So RoseRN what city are you in?

2020-12-19 16:19:15 UTC

I should say though that hospitals got $ too. Was pretty good last winter. Not so sure right now. 1200 dollars for every american is well deserved co spidering companies will certainly be grabbing more than that for themselves, further disenfranchising the average person out there no matter what.

2020-12-19 16:19:46 UTC

I'm no worse off than before and haven't personally seen anyone lose their job, business or home because of covid restrictions. Also I've been going to work every day and making a shitpile of money. By science denial/conspiracy/alt-fact logic, all of this hysteria about 'lockdowns' is a rightist hoax, designed to bring down Biden. Plus I get to make up arbitrary numbers to support any claim I wish, like '99.99% of people survive lockdowns, therefore it's harmless.' People whining about economic strife are either lazy or can't figure out how to get their act together.

Any data which conflicts with this assessment is rightist lies cuz 'The Right' and 'RWM'. Numbers reported include things like being fired for sucking at your job or being insufferably obnoxious to coworkers about Trump's election loss failure.
