Fortunately most moderate dems don't act like this.

Summary judgment for all registered Republicans and their families hanged drawn and quartered.

2020-12-21 17:43:55 UTC

I normally would agree with you, but McConnell has proven that he is an obstructionist and not a "moderating influence". If he allowed there to be a real debate and a legitimate effort to find a middle ground, it would be a no-brainer.

2020-12-21 17:44:53 UTC

His obstruction is what we want when all of the bills are invading peoples lives.

2020-12-21 17:45:39 UTC

Gun regulation

Medicare for all

Open borders

Climate change wet dream bills.

***HARD PASS***

2020-12-21 17:45:43 UTC

No need to find middle ground if my suggestion above is taken. No rest for republicans.

2020-12-21 17:45:58 UTC

The dynamic might change without an appeal to hyperpartianship from the executive branch.

2020-12-21 17:48:25 UTC

The right needs an AOC

2020-12-21 17:48:28 UTC

as opposed to Schumer?

During the Obama years, it was often McConnell and Biden who forged agreements that staved off some crisis. Both men are fiercely partisan, but neither view their political duties as incompatible with their official responsibilities. Biden will fight for Democrats and McConnell for Republicans, just as they always have. And no one should expect Senate Republicans to begin rubber-stamping Pelosi-written legislation anytime soon.

But both are pros, two veteran Washington knights who know how to raise their visors in friendship from across the battlefield and mean it. And both know how to make deals. Maybe — just maybe — the American people will get a calmer, more functional Washington because of it.

2020-12-21 17:52:22 UTC

Not sure what this is...but its occuring.

2020-12-21 17:53:32 UTC

"Patriots" annoys me. Its up there with woke, redpill and all the other words that have been overused.

2020-12-21 17:54:58 UTC

Oregon is such a mess 😖

2020-12-21 18:03:23 UTC

The crying calls of antifa are near identical just less polite. Much less.

2020-12-21 18:04:36 UTC

Our country was formed with the understanding that compromise is a necessary component of our representative democracy. You have one side of the aisle (the right), that has adopted the stance that they will never compromise on anything - the minority party believes they can dictate their viewpoints on the rest of the country.

Not to mention that none of those things are even in the Democrat platform, with the possible exception of some level of gun regulation (I am not sure what that might be), but I think that there is enough bipartisan 2nd amendment support that this is a minor risk.

Medicare for all is not what the Dems want, they are going to put forward a public option, which should have been part of the ACA from the beginning.

Nobody wants open borders - illegal immigration is a red herring issue, anyways. A wall is not needed - Trump could have eliminated all illegal immigration by going after companies and individuals that hire undocumented workers. No jobs and they go home.

Climate Change - CA has led the way with solar power adoption and EV cars to show that a post-gasoline world is possible. In the past 20 years, solar power efficiency has grown exponentially. Solar panels now reach parity in less than 5 years. Waiting until fossil fuels become so scarce that it becomes dire makes no sense. There is no down side to having more diversity in energy generation.

2020-12-21 18:06:15 UTC

Which is I said the right needs an AOC. To make wild bills then balance in the middle. As it stands now we move left, the right blocks and eventually gives in.

2020-12-21 18:06:44 UTC

My family is all in Oregon... It's not like it is portrayed on the extremist news media. You're talking about a few hundred numskulls on both sides.

2020-12-21 18:07:29 UTC

you're right. The Right needs someone who's just as *radical* or *progressive* as "the crew" that's on the Left. You want Universal Healthcare? Then give us Universal Gun Ownership.

2020-12-21 18:09:07 UTC

You don't live in the central valley. 😂 illegal immigration may not be an issue for you. I was shot by opposing gangs.

And no, I don't want gun regulation because they didn't obtain it legally and never intended to use one legally.

2020-12-21 18:18:38 UTC

Whoa.

2020-12-21 18:19:50 UTC

+ 💯% respect

2020-12-21 18:21:42 UTC

Oh no, I'm turning into an ancom.

2020-12-21 18:22:36 UTC

@Maw How did you become a mod?

2020-12-21 18:23:13 UTC

Because I'm still fair, and you know, I was proactive and it lead to being asked to mod.

2020-12-21 18:23:25 UTC

That and I have a lot of experience with it.

2020-12-21 18:24:02 UTC

2020-12-21 18:24:11 UTC

That's actually really well done.

2020-12-21 18:24:26 UTC

Could use some reflections, but still.

2020-12-21 18:24:47 UTC

Home invasions would drop if criminals knew there was a very real threat of death on the other side of every houses front door.

2020-12-21 18:25:02 UTC

Most know this, it's part of the societal contract.

2020-12-21 18:25:47 UTC

Oh. Right on. I was just curious how you found Rob and Faith.

2020-12-21 18:26:03 UTC

Home Invaders should be welcomed with crack and a pipe.

2020-12-21 18:26:08 UTC

It started with the Rittenhouse case and I stuck around.

2020-12-21 18:26:30 UTC

Home invaders should be welcomed Home Alone style.

2020-12-21 18:26:51 UTC

I'm generally against boobytraps. I think the threat should be very explicit.

2020-12-21 18:26:56 UTC

A candy dish full of cocaine on the front porch?

2020-12-21 18:27:15 UTC

Tar, Feathers, falling clothes iron, broken glass... the whole nine yards.

2020-12-21 18:27:41 UTC

Tar and feather... That's hardcore.
