@Doc That is assuming brains actually mean efficacy.

2020-11-24 03:18:15 UTC

i just started last week

2020-11-24 03:18:38 UTC

up to 800 on chess.com but starting to hit a wall

2020-11-24 03:18:59 UTC

@TaLoN132 My mother always insisted common sense is only learned when you really screw something up.

2020-11-24 03:19:09 UTC

all Generals in the army should be required to learn chess

2020-11-24 03:19:28 UTC

Wise woman...

2020-11-24 03:19:35 UTC

@Whithers wisdom v. intelligence

2020-11-24 03:19:39 UTC

Most generals in the army know chess.

2020-11-24 03:19:50 UTC

why dont generals learn go instead?

2020-11-24 03:19:56 UTC

lol

2020-11-24 03:20:29 UTC

@ImNotGas 10 internet point. Chess is too rigid to transfer to the battlefield. Go isnt.

2020-11-24 03:20:29 UTC

@Doc, you just advanced to level 15!

2020-11-24 03:20:35 UTC

I think since combat is now 3 d. We need something more complicated than chess.

2020-11-24 03:20:40 UTC

Go

2020-11-24 03:20:49 UTC

its so hard

2020-11-24 03:20:57 UTC

Only if Go is converted to 3D.

2020-11-24 03:21:15 UTC

What would that be 29x29x29 lines?

2020-11-24 03:21:22 UTC

Its played by intuition. And there are studies showing intuition is what separates good commanders from bad ones.

2020-11-24 03:21:30 UTC

govt IS bankrupt now: https://www.usdebtclock.org/

2020-11-24 03:21:45 UTC

its not bankrupt

2020-11-24 03:21:52 UTC

its just debt loaded

2020-11-24 03:22:07 UTC

expect Toyota stocks to plummet.

2020-11-24 03:22:38 UTC

@Jorgen Johnson should a newbie study endgame or openings first?

2020-11-24 03:22:47 UTC

@meglide We don't know what the govt. is. We have been operating a virtual reality economy for 85 years using mechanical models developed in the 1800's.

2020-11-24 03:23:45 UTC

@ImNotGas That depends on if you think forwards or backwards when you analyze.

2020-11-24 03:24:12 UTC

if that means we've been playing with Monopoly money, then I agree https://www.federalreserve.gov/monetarypolicy/bst_recenttrends.htm

2020-11-24 03:24:25 UTC

If you are going to be good at the game, then you are going to have to be able to cram it til it showsup inyour dreams.

2020-11-24 03:24:38 UTC

I think at my ELO my openings are sufficient

2020-11-24 03:24:48 UTC

i have some issues calculating trades, and wrapping up endgames

2020-11-24 03:25:12 UTC

yeah i've had chess dreams already

2020-11-24 03:25:40 UTC

I've been using the kings indian usually

2020-11-24 03:25:49 UTC

@meglide No. Not monopoly money. We are playing with electronic credits like in Eve Online, or Star Trek Online, or any other virtual reality game. Monopoly is still thinking in the mechanics of the 1800's.

2020-11-24 03:27:07 UTC

fiat is fiat, doesnt matter if its on paper or on a computer

2020-11-24 03:27:07 UTC

@ImNotGas, you just advanced to level 5!

2020-11-24 03:27:10 UTC

yes but I'm an old guy and in Monopoly it says in the rules if the banker runs out of money he or she just needs to print more

2020-11-24 03:27:20 UTC

I prefer Napoleonic openings. And knights are worth less than bishops because you cannot checkmate with just a knight and a king.

2020-11-24 03:28:15 UTC

@Whithers yeah like knowing what to trade for what is fine, but i'm still a little slow in the analysis on like waht lanes i'll open up or what counterattacks ill trap myself in

2020-11-24 03:29:43 UTC

@meglide That ignores the connection between currency and production. There is a connection. And it is possible that our debt problem is not caused by debt, but by failing to accurately assess the value of production. By always pushing to the law of the minimum pay out, we short both the hired and the tax revenue.

2020-11-24 03:29:56 UTC

Napoleonic openings make you queen to vulnerable right at the beginning especially if the opponent catches on to what you are doing

2020-11-24 03:30:42 UTC

i like the french defense but that napoleonic opening looks like it would just delay your development

2020-11-24 03:30:59 UTC

Yeah, I still like using Napolean or Napolean reversed.
