We have a lot of doctors here. Every other block. Selling plants. And pipes. And gummies.

2020-12-22 19:47:57 UTC

Doctor != Medical doctor.

2020-12-22 19:48:48 UTC

Physician

2020-12-22 19:50:33 UTC

Hence why dermatologists require a medical degree.

2020-12-22 19:50:41 UTC

They also prescribe medication.

2020-12-22 19:51:25 UTC

Biden giving live speech and taking questions like a President 🤷 šŸ˜‚

2020-12-22 19:51:25 UTC

@Dedkraken, you just advanced to level 33!

2020-12-22 19:52:52 UTC

Also another good example between doctors and non-doctors is physician referring to treatment to a physiotherapist.

2020-12-22 19:53:14 UTC

I think all drugs should be legal but only sold those with a pharmacist degree so they can advise on risks.

2020-12-22 19:53:37 UTC

But I ran this by some pharmacist and they were less convinced lol

2020-12-22 19:53:40 UTC

Theres some crazy stuff that's regulated

2020-12-22 19:53:54 UTC

Pharmacists require prescriptions, unless it's off-the-shelf, and then it kinda defeats the point you're making.

2020-12-22 19:54:17 UTC

DPM, DC, DMD, and DDS all can prescribe Medications.

2020-12-22 19:54:20 UTC

It would be off the shelf. But only sold by pharmacist. That’s my plan

2020-12-22 19:54:20 UTC

I think requiring licensing to sell and do so in a responsible way would be a good start.

2020-12-22 19:55:01 UTC

But everything is legal. So no black market. No incentive for violence and drug wars.

2020-12-22 19:55:03 UTC

Sort of how dispensaries work already in Canada and the like.

2020-12-22 19:55:14 UTC

And the same with prostitution.

2020-12-22 19:55:25 UTC

I am not certain how they work tbh.

2020-12-22 19:55:38 UTC

Government license to own a dispensary.

2020-12-22 19:56:49 UTC

And perhaps that's exactly where we would have gotten to had you not taking the tact of saying I'm an idiot because I didn't know what your acronym meant. Maybe some folks went to school before certain modern acronyms or terms became popular.

2020-12-22 19:56:49 UTC

After I received my JD, I’ve put ā€œDr.ā€ as my title on my license, Amazon package delivery, Global Entry... places like that lol

2020-12-22 19:57:27 UTC

I would have no license beyond the pharmacist license. The licensing should be regulated by those with the knowledge. No government revenue beyond VAT or sales tax.

2020-12-22 19:57:55 UTC

Generally the revenue is processing fees for licenses.

2020-12-22 19:58:03 UTC

šŸ˜‚ someone said doctors get better hotel rooms and such.

2020-12-22 19:58:14 UTC

Which is reasonable to me, since it takes time to process applications/licensing.

2020-12-22 19:58:29 UTC

Junk Doctor? Not quite the same as Push Here Dummy?...lol

2020-12-22 19:58:40 UTC

I wouldn’t want the regulating body to be the government just a non profit of pharmacist. Like other professional regulating authorities.

2020-12-22 19:59:10 UTC

Pharmacies are non-profit?

2020-12-22 19:59:14 UTC

The government could say you need to be licensed but not themselves be involved in regulation or collection of revenue.

2020-12-22 19:59:16 UTC

Wasn't aware of that.

2020-12-22 19:59:23 UTC

I don’t think I used the correct term.

2020-12-22 20:00:27 UTC

But there are professional regulating authorities that aren’t the government but have some monopoly on regulating a profession.

2020-12-22 20:00:39 UTC

Which is granted by the government.

2020-12-22 20:00:52 UTC

Nonprofit vs Not-for-Profit

2020-12-22 20:02:25 UTC

I believe you'd have to take down existing regulations that the government has on selling cannabis.

2020-12-22 20:02:41 UTC

I am fine with this lol

2020-12-22 20:02:42 UTC

Because remember, the system exists currently, with the exception of valid medical reasoning.

2020-12-22 20:03:13 UTC

Excess Revenue over Expenses is a Fancy Term for Profits.

2020-12-22 20:04:38 UTC

I'm really libertarian but even I think there are reasons for government regulation. (And I'm reeeally liberty-minded)

2020-12-22 20:05:20 UTC

I think professions are generally good at self regulation. If you hurt the consumer you hurt the profession. Basically I think we should be able to buy anything as long as we can make informed choices. Then if you sold without being a pharmacist you would just be committing some sort of licensing crime. I don’t know what that would be like but what’s the crime of say, selling legal advice without being a lawyer? Not pretending to be a lawyer just selling something without being a lawyer?
