It is 100% normal to care more about things closer to you than further removed from you.
It's not suggesting you don't care, it's suggesting you care more about your family than you do some random people in Iraq.
This is hardly a hot take.
I think it really depends..
I don't.
Like, if your family is far removed from you, that's a different story.
Substitute close friend with family in that instance.
People involved more with your life.
I'd help strangers here just as well as anywhere else if I had the means.
Didn't suggest you wouldn't.
I can see this.
People have become reliant on services and retailers to live. Without them, a majority would die.
E.g: Someone harms your wife. You'd want to seriously harm them. Someone kills someone in another country in an unjustified way. You feel bad, doesn't mean you don't care (kinda the opposite!) it just means you'd care more about people harming people close to you.
What's the real point here, though?
Iran contra, guatemala, Libya
Did you attack anyone over that?
Attacks on US soil would make Americans very, very angry. They must be more subtle.
This is absolutely true...
This is my point.
Americans would literally overthrow their government if what happened in Iraq happened in the US in any small scale.
We also have that right...
Therefore the government can't just bomb Americans on American soil carte blanche.
Of course not.
But... Then again, even if they did.. Would we believe it was true?
"The government would never do that"
"This could never happen here"
They would use subtle methods like hacking new vehicles and making you swerve off the road.
Rather than drone striking you. lol
I really do fear how interconnected everything is these days and how easy it is to make a bad day for someone.
Using electronics
They would not blow you up around a ton of witnesses in the middle of a ton of CCTVs.
They have to use useful idiots and ignore them as they drive planes into towers to justify war
oh boy
Here we go
There are certain aspects of the 9/11 attack that don't make sense to me... But, I don't think that the hijackers were employed by the government.
They weren't
I don't believe it was an inside job.
At all.
It's easy just to entrap and let extremist do what they do
