are you baptised at least?

2020-10-30 18:49:37 UTC

I don't pretend to be an atheist, I still pray twice a day at home just my family members don't know about it

2020-10-30 18:49:45 UTC

and I am baptized

2020-10-30 18:50:27 UTC

@mrspiderforeman damn that's based as fuck

2020-10-30 19:31:39 UTC

@mrspiderforeman I'm sure you already know this but make sure that if you are asked whether or not you are Christian you affirm it

2020-10-30 19:31:46 UTC

Thats super important

2020-10-30 19:31:55 UTC

Because if you deny Christ He denies you in heaven

2020-10-30 19:34:48 UTC

I don't think I've denied Christ yet besides when I was a cringe atheist

2020-10-30 20:00:38 UTC

Thats good

2020-10-30 20:01:03 UTC

I mean since you converted that is forgiven now

2020-10-30 21:17:15 UTC

Does anyone know the bible verse that says that someone does not have to follow Jewish customs to be accepted into heaven

2020-10-30 21:28:24 UTC

I don't know it off the the top of my head but I think its in Galatians

2020-10-30 21:28:31 UTC

I just read it a few days ago

2020-10-30 21:28:42 UTC

Galatians is pretty short so it shouldn't take too long to find

2020-10-30 21:40:21 UTC

15 “We who are Jews by birth and not sinful Gentiles 16 know that a person is not justified by the works of the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified.

2020-10-30 21:59:20 UTC

Yup

2020-10-31 22:17:22 UTC

@Indra Can one of yall give me a rundown on the differences between Catholicism vs Orthodox vs Protestantism?

2020-10-31 22:17:47 UTC

Hoo boy that’s a long discussion.

2020-10-31 22:17:59 UTC

Which do you want to know abkut first?

2020-10-31 22:18:15 UTC

Ok well lemme give context to my question...

2020-10-31 22:18:25 UTC

Btw I’ll clarify I’m not an expert on the Orthodox faith and would always point to the clergy for your best bet.

2020-10-31 22:22:15 UTC

I was raised protestant, my family was not any particular denomination, we used to attend a baptist church but left due to some argument that my parents had with the leaders and then we went to a Presbyterian church(it wasnt like the liberal type) but eventually left that(well my parents did and in turn me) over doctrinal issues, I think this was due to it being too calvinistic, and now we do attend this other church that seems to be baptist(they do baptize people) but afaik they dont openly call themselves "baptist".

So right now I consider myself non-denominational.

2020-10-31 22:23:31 UTC

and I do want to say I am rather ignorant on the particular Catholicism and Orthodox.

2020-10-31 22:25:14 UTC

So you want to know what Catholicism and Orthodxy are, eh?

2020-10-31 22:25:22 UTC

I am a bit hesitant about following any particular denomination atm primarily because I am rather ill-informed and dont want to be led astray

2020-10-31 22:25:34 UTC

You seem to have had a similar upbringing to me. I was raised as some sort of Evangelical/Baptist mix.

2020-10-31 22:25:58 UTC

Well, friend, the issue is that all denominations are man-made.

2020-10-31 22:26:03 UTC

Baptists only go back to 1610.

2020-10-31 22:26:14 UTC

Yeh kinda evangelical/baptist

2020-10-31 22:26:17 UTC

Presbyterians to about the 1600s.

2020-10-31 22:26:30 UTC

Non-denominational Christianity is ony about 120ish years only.

2020-10-31 22:26:45 UTC

But do you know how old God’s Church is? Almost 2,000.

2020-10-31 22:27:07 UTC

That’s what helped me leave the Prots is knowing that my faith wouldn’t be recognized by my ancestors.

2020-10-31 22:27:31 UTC

My 5x great grandfather was not a Christian Zionist, for example. He never lived to see that sort of doctrine in Christendom.

2020-10-31 22:27:36 UTC

Well I guess you could say I am a evangelical/baptist but since I am not sure what the denom of the church we currently go to I just say I am non-denom

2020-10-31 22:27:49 UTC

So, enough on that.

2020-10-31 22:28:01 UTC

You want to know the EOC/RCC and their differences, yes?

2020-10-31 22:28:14 UTC

EOC/RCC?

2020-10-31 22:28:18 UTC

That’s a can of worms over 1,000 years old. That’s a BIIIIIG topic.

2020-10-31 22:28:30 UTC

Eastern Orthodox Church and Roman Catholc Church.

2020-10-31 22:29:06 UTC

The most glaringly obvious difference is the Orthodox reject papal supremacy. We see the Pope as another Bishop who doesn’t have universal jurisdiction.
