This is deeper and richer than sex for pleasure, and it is certainly biblical to appreciate sex as a physical manifestation of God's statement that "they [the husband and wife] shall become one flesh"

there is a spiritual/emotional aspect of sex, thats one reason why rape is so bad cuz of the emotional damage
There’s a reason that St. Paul writes how when you fornicate with a prostitute that you both leave a piece of one another with you.
Sex isn’t “just sex.” It is a spiritual transaction.

St. John of Kronstadt was more worried about his priestly duties than consummating his marriage, for example.
His wife begged him once to at least just consummate since they’d been married for many years, but he insisted they instead prayed all night to ward off the passions.
