Douay-Rheims
In English, absolutely
its alive it just suffered a schism recently
This is the best thing I ever read on the relationship between race and Christianity
> It's kinda sad that people now have to hide from being Christian, I even have to do it in my own house, all my family are atheists and they don't like Christians
@mrspiderforeman Matthew 10:32-33
because they are under the impression that by rejecting theism they are enlightened and intellectually scrupulous
when in reality its pride and foolishness
Romans 1:22
why don't they get booted?
You should read the section on marriage in the Catechism, specifically the subsection "The Motives and Ends of Marriage"
intentionally thwarting sex's natural end to procreation is immoral
its like vomiting out food after eating to continue enjoying the taste
okay I thought you were arguing for contraception
anything that ends in "phobic" are meme terms that shouldn't be taken seriously
remember when they called Trump zenophobic for shutting down travel from China
I'm talking in the context of politics
Simple run down: Protestantism is 5 solas, its premised on rejecting church authority in favor of private bible-only Christianity.
Purgatory is biblical and patristic
the EO have their own "version" of purgatory called toll houses
The central dividing issue between EO and Catholicism is the papacy due to the schism of 1054
We share 1000 years of history so there's similarities, but since then there have been developments
Palamism and Thomism are not serious, irreconcilable differences
do you watch Jay Dyer?
you should stop watching him
Even if you're EO he's extremely belligerent and a terrible representative of the faith
Whatever good is overshadowed by his ego-mania
Thats the sin of avarice
There it is
@Deleted User if you have questions about the Catholic faith you're welcome to join the server "Catholic Community Chat"
Of course. The best place to start is the Catechism. There's many different versions due to developments over time but I personally recommend the Catechism of the Council of Trent since it was written in response to the rise of the Protestant revolt. You should be able to find a free PDF online. In terms of websites there's vatican.va which contains important magisterial documents, catholic answers website catholic.com for various questions, newadvent.org that provides various works connected to the church (church fathers, ecumenical councils, St. Thomas Aquina's *Summa*, etc) and of course you can find the rosary prayer anywhere. You're also welcome to join the server i linked above, lmk if you need anything else.
Carlo Acutis. Young Catholic boy who died from leukemia in '06 and was beatified recently
you can't receive through a TV screen
sounds like pride on their part. The Catechism of the Catholic Church, in section 2180, specifies that the Sunday obligation is satisfied by โassistanceโ at Mass. if they're able to attend a church or oratory they must do so
indoor mass is closed by you?
how's that going to survive in the winter?
based, nothing has been shut down and most people at my parish don't even wear masks
yeah their morality is totally warped. Nick was right when he said if we don't stop wearing them at some point the powers at be will never lift the order to oblige people to have them on.
lust is a strong passion
and a lot of people don't pray, so they get dominated by it
Amen to that ๐
theres plenty of EO parishes with pews in them
disciplinary rules are reformable by church authority
bruh why are you end times posting. its not going to be as dramatic as you think
he never said a civil war is going to break out
thats fed bait
that's just a description of politics
they just banned baked again on yt
mid stream
leftist moral theology
proponents of it think being opposed to infant-murder necessitates being pro-immigration, pro-animal rights, anti-war, and anti-death penalty
not all moral issues weigh equally and have to be treated with nuance
^
the Catena app is also great
what's the context?
anything by David Irving
Have you read his books? He's a revisionist and went through extensive effort going through archives all over the world reading primary sources like journals and talking to ex-Nazis to give a real account of WW2. he got death threats and lawsuits his entire life because he didn't surrender to mainstream historical views
He believes the death count is in the millions but he doesn't accept how and where it happened like it's normally told. He said Auschwitz is a post-war fabrication but other sites like Dachau, Treblinka were legitimate extermination sites. He also believes A.H. was ignorant of the entire thing and Himmler was the real architect of it all.
idk if its still up but he had a $1000 reward for anyone who can provide a document proving AH commanded or approved of any extermination programs and no one has ever done it
yes since Himmler did everything in his power to prevent knowledge of it spreading. There's a 2 hour talk on yt "Himmler by Historian David Irving" if you're interested in the details
No that's total nonsense
That document was written by sedes
the rosary is a private devotion. you can pray 5 mysteries, 10, 15, 20, etc its up to you
sedevacantists. they believe the see of peter is vacant in other words we don't have a valid pope
latin is definitely the next step after you've nailed the english down. here's a good resource when you're ready
God Bless
procreation
JP2's Theology of the Body is an important read on this topic
Douay-Rheims
You want the closest translation to the Latin vulgate if you're Catholic
which is the Douay-Rheims
the bible
what are you looking for in particular?
I recommend Puritan's Empire by Charles A. Coulombe
yes that's the typical English form of the blessing
I believe so, since the blessing is specific to the medal
You're free to read any translation but if you're RC you should avoid Prot translations for study/devotion primarily because they omit the Deuterocanon. It's best to read bibles with official approval (nihil obstat or imprimatur)
baronius press sells a pocket DR if you're interested
there's a 5 min clip on yt. bouncer said they had to leave because they were getting prank calls
the gesture of the blessing hand shapes the letters IC XC, an abbreviation for the first and last letters of the Greek words Jesus (IHCOYC) Christ (XPICTOC). Additionally, the three fingers used to spell the I and X also represent the Trinity, the Unity of One God in three Persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Bringing the thumb and the ring finger together to touch not only forms the letter C, but also symbolizes the Incarnation, the union of the divine and human natures in the person of Christ
