Detroit is America's Russia
I don't think that's how that works.
maybe try a importer service for cars? it exists for japanese cars
I'm not sure how else you're supposed to get something that big shipped at a reasonable price
I meant that Detroit wasn't America's Russia
Oh
Well, "reasonable" and "cheap" are two different things
No it pretty much is
How's that?
Economically depressed urban zone with terrible weather.
Anyway, how much are you planning to spend for shipping?
I mean, the engine is $600, have no problem doubling that or a little more if I have to.
how much does an engine weigh?
Probably 300 lbs
It's almost entirely aluminum, and it's only a 4 cylinder
If you're doing an engine swap anyway why not use the opportunity to have something you can reasonably find parts for?
And, uh, what do you need it for, that you can't use a local engine?
Probably a ZMZ 402
Gaz 22 Volga, that I own. Still has the original engine. Want to build a turbo version, just because I can. but figure I'll build the turbo version NOT using the numbers-matching engine.
That looks like a boat of a car
Meh
Close enough
Where did you even find that?
Moscow?
<:thvnk:332928260004642827>
Is it a boat
Actually, about 60 miles east of Moscow
🤔
It's very slow. 2.4L 4 cylinder that stock produced 75hp, 3 on the tree with no overdrive. it's got a top speed of 75mph, and a cruising speed of about 55
How many bakelite mags did you manage to stow in the seat?
Friends asked me to bring them back parts for their guns. I refused. Enough tension with an import from Russia that I didn't need more of it
Pussy.
Fair enough, did you at least hook them up with Russian contacts?
If you can afford to import a boatcar, you can afford to bribe customs.
boatcar?
It's not that big of a car
and the car itself only cost me like $2000.
and is cool and pretty rare, actually
I can't imagine the shipping process is that much different than a full car
