That’s why placebos are interesting
The body believes in something that isn’t anything
You never know if it’s a placebo an actual effect or both
The organizer of the study should know what’s happening in the study
Yes. But this was impossible. I did not tell her till she asked after three meals a day for two weeks. Every one she liked without exception. Sometimes she could not eat much but she liked what she ate.
Also that’s the point of the placebo the organizer knows which is which
Yes but, even if they are taking the pill which helps, a placebo effect may be placed on top of that
No that’s not how an experiment works
So it would feel as intended for both placebo and real pills
That’s why placebos are introduced
And double blind tests
Neither the proctor or patient would know which is which
Yes if done properly no one knows what pill is what.
Ah, see I didn’t factor in the double blind
The point is to make sure no one knows and no external forces are at work
So yeah
Only the administrator and that is hidden from the one taking it and the one given it. Even the administrator may not know till after the test is done and then it is studied.
Well steve, what do you mean by “fixing” her food
As in removing/adding ingredients?
Cooking or warming up some food. Several possibilities.
Sometimes a dozen or more. Hashbrowns, eggs with cheese or not rice on and on.
Hmm, interesting
Have you cycled through various plates over time
You could have struck a lucky chord
I did what I could to try to help her eat. I in no way complained when she did not like it and I had to fix another. I knew she needed to eat to survive. It was a lot of work. Usually the fourth would mean she would not eat.
Was it picky or a serious eating disorder
It was coming out of an eating disorder but she was always a picky eater. I had to be very careful with spices and such.
Are you sure you aren’t an absolute culinary master
Mostly just pepper, salt and garlic. Onions cooked.
But spicy foods she sometimes liked.
Chinese food she liked. Chilli on occasion.
Seems like she finally broke her eating disorder
Did you guys get professional help
Yes it only lasted for two months. Then she went back to the norm and could eat what she had 8 months prior to her heart attack and stroke.
Seems like her condition resolved naturally but may have been an antecedent to the heart attack and stroke
Yes mostly the stroke. She never got fully out of it. Nerve damage was permanent in a hand and in her mouth. Very little feeling.
Yeah strokes are devastating I’m sorry she went through that
For two months she could not lift herself out of bed. I had to move her to the bathroom. It was six months before she was walking hardly at all.
I’m sorry she went through that
She needed a wheelchair for close to two years if it was much walking.
