in the 1800s the smallpox vaccine existed, today they are no longer used since it's considered eradicated
problem is that with today's vaccines, they contain substances that are questionable over the absence of evidence of safety on long term. Especially since the used studies don't specify the aluminum salts (aluminum chloride used in safety studies easily dissolves in water, the adjuvant aluminum salts however don't dissolve in water). There's also a lack of latency. And type of exposure isn't specified.
Four key terms to study general toxicity without looking into mechanism:
1) Double blind, true placebo
2) Specify substance by chemical/physical properties
3) Specify type of exposure
4) Latency
