Because they don't.

2019-06-14 00:34:07 UTC

@Albert Einstein yes you are taught that

2019-06-14 00:34:26 UTC

Horizon = horizontal

2019-06-14 00:34:37 UTC

Well I certaintly haven't, but you agree that type of presuppositional reasoning has no place here.

2019-06-14 00:34:52 UTC

Whether you were taught or not, you shouldn't just assume it is true.

That definition doesn't mean anything either, I can show you plenty of definitions used in spherical models also for elevation, level or anything like that.

2019-06-14 00:36:18 UTC

Water on small scales will be horisontal if no other forces are acting on it.

2019-06-14 00:37:22 UTC

I'm good! A bit tired, I really should go to bed, past 2 am where I live. How are you?

2019-06-14 00:38:01 UTC
2019-06-14 00:38:03 UTC

All that extra time 😛

2019-06-14 00:38:08 UTC

Use it well!

2019-06-14 00:38:59 UTC

@Citizen Z I agree it will be flat on small scales, I don't agree that we have reason to believe it has to be flat on all scales

2019-06-14 00:45:36 UTC

Anyways, bedtime for me. I'll be back tomorrow @Citizen Z

2019-06-14 00:46:44 UTC

@Albert Einstein so you admit we are taught that and there is no reason to believe it works differently on a large scale other than fake pictures and mathematical construct made by liars and fallible men. You are believing what you were told without being able to verify it. Thats the problem here..flat earth is verifiable and globe earth is not.

"You are believing what you were told without being able to verify it. Thats the problem "
Ditto

2019-06-14 00:49:44 UTC

Always start out with not knowing the answer then find your way, that way you will look at the data more objectively.

2019-06-14 00:55:05 UTC

I don't really care

2019-06-14 00:55:22 UTC

Ah okay, I'll do it either way. Good night!

2019-06-14 00:55:27 UTC

Bye

2019-06-14 01:00:59 UTC

Flat earth is easily provable and is common sense

2019-06-14 09:21:26 UTC

Observe ... report what you see.. common sense

2019-06-14 09:56:07 UTC

Well what do we observe over water?

2019-06-14 09:57:35 UTC

@Citizen Z I disagree that it is easily provable or even common sense. I don't think there is something about a sphere earth which violates common sense.

2019-06-14 09:59:06 UTC

The essence of the problem here is how we interpret what we see, over water this is extra tricky because it will essentially change everyday you observe something. One day maybe 50 percent of an object is obscured, say 60 feet, on another day that might be 30 and on rare occasions the whole thing is seemingly visible.

2019-06-14 10:01:20 UTC

But I think only sticking to these water tests are kind of an overly restrictive thing, if we can show that earth most likely is a sphere then it follows that water is most likely curved.

2019-06-14 11:05:11 UTC

LOL

2019-06-14 14:54:55 UTC

Globe trolls =)

2019-06-14 15:00:35 UTC

@Citizen Z My point is that if you start out with the assumption that water cannot curve, you can post-hoc rationalize all the data (if your definitions of things are rather vauge) to fit the bill.

2019-06-14 15:01:02 UTC

Like that image for instance

2019-06-14 15:01:11 UTC

My point is if you start out thinking it does curve....lol

2019-06-14 15:01:39 UTC

Everything you say you need to apply to yourself lol

2019-06-14 15:01:39 UTC

I start with not knowing, then look at the data and find the best explanation for all of it.

2019-06-14 15:01:53 UTC

Sure you do lol

2019-06-14 15:02:00 UTC

Yup

2019-06-14 15:02:04 UTC

Liar lol

2019-06-14 15:02:14 UTC

Is the horizon curved at higher elevations?

2019-06-14 15:02:31 UTC

Does object drop from eye level with distance following the simple equation for a circle?

2019-06-14 15:02:34 UTC

Obstruction
