That sounds like an argument from incredulity

Cherry picking?

2019-05-22 18:48:05 UTC

not an argument from incredulity, just wondering why certain information is distrusted while ^^ info is.

2019-05-22 18:48:20 UTC

Why donā€™t you cherry pick your globe earth equations where we can observe, measure, and experiment with it ourselves?

2019-05-22 18:48:27 UTC

Oh right. Because you donā€™t have any.

2019-05-22 18:48:56 UTC

@r/scottishpeopletwitter Are you here to learn about the flat earth? Yes or no?
Or are you here only in attempt to learn how people think the earth is flat?

2019-05-22 18:50:10 UTC

well in my physics class, equations are often simplified to exclude air resistance and things of the sort as they are negligible at such scales, much like how i imagine that that equation you posted is, to simplify it as factoring in the earths rotundity and rotation is not neccessary

yeah i agree in as much as gravity doesn't exist but current physics models including those presented by einstein suggest its effects are observed due to space-time curvature

Literally no one on earth can test the **"curving of space-time"**

2019-05-22 18:53:15 UTC

no, but its effects can be observed. much the same as you don't witness a murder but can still use evidence to find the killer

2019-05-22 18:53:28 UTC

Literally nobody can present any space time to experiment on

2019-05-22 18:54:06 UTC

Where are these observations of space-time curving?

2019-05-22 18:54:16 UTC

I can't see it curve

2019-05-22 18:54:22 UTC

I call rubbish

which is why it is presented as a theory. i know you folks hate theories, but the whole point of them is to create a predictive model of our existence to benefit humanity. All the science greats were not tripped by the dunning krueger effect, they realised how little they knew despite their theories working

your argument is flawed, i cant see the earth form therefor it never happened. i cant see jesus, therefor he didnt exist.

2019-05-22 18:56:27 UTC

The theories donā€™t work. Thatā€™s the problem.

2019-05-22 18:56:38 UTC

Thatā€™s why your argument fails.

2019-05-22 18:58:02 UTC

theories have predictive capability, thats why we can create a model which will accurately predict the weather a day from now. its based on theory, yet the calculations work

2019-05-22 18:58:06 UTC

Theory is synonymous with belief. When mainstream pseudoscience is teaching people to Believe their theories, that ceases to be science. Itā€™s religion.

2019-05-22 18:58:58 UTC

Theory fails.

2019-05-22 18:59:12 UTC

although if you erased all religious texts then they would never be recreated the exact same way. destroy science textbooks however and people will figure it out again

2019-05-22 19:00:06 UTC

you are right, the meme has beat me. why continue

2019-05-22 19:00:22 UTC

Stopping calling your religion science please when you canā€™t prove your theories. Thank you.

2019-05-22 19:00:45 UTC

nice bait

2019-05-22 19:01:41 UTC

Your argument is bait, yes.

2019-05-22 19:01:49 UTC

Empty hook for you.

2019-05-22 19:01:57 UTC

Thanks for the snack.

2019-05-22 19:02:16 UTC

explain the weather phenomenon i described above then, how can we accurately predict weather if it is based on particle physics which is theoretical
