@California Daydream so what’s your best proof for globe earth?

2019-07-16 22:13:42 UTC

secondary school level physics

2019-07-16 22:13:59 UTC

@California Nightmare The complete and utter failure of the flat earth to even explain common observations.

@California Daydream what’s your best proof of the globe earth

2019-07-16 22:14:18 UTC

My mans jumped and fell the earth

2019-07-16 22:16:00 UTC

@California Nightmare That is were you lot foul up. There is no one singular proof that is the 'gotcha' evidence. It is literally observations from many different times and places, which lead quite beautifully, I might add, to the conclusion that the earth is a globe.

2019-07-16 22:16:35 UTC

So what observations

2019-07-16 22:18:50 UTC

Well, one could start with the geodetic surveying and the use of spherical triangles. I could also mention the abudance of globe-based maps, which despite being based on an incorrect model, still manage to navigate quite wonderfully. I could mention that the globe model also explains the seasons, the day/night cycle, the phases of the moon, the eclipses, the tides, etc, all in one coherent model. The flat earth model can't even explain one of those in a way that matches current observation.

Cool
Study circumnavigation

Also seasons can be explained easily as well as the eclipses and tides

Also the globe earth cannot explain sunbeams, gas pressure without a container, etc

One thing at a time if you will. First, we will focus on circumnavigation, since you brought it up first.

The moon also emits it’s own light aka cold light
No evidence of curvature,rotation,$ Motion

2019-07-16 22:22:30 UTC

The moon emitting it’s own light is impossible on a globe heliocentric earth

Circumnavigation on the southern latitudes on a flat earth would be dramatically different than on a globe. The globe asserts that the largest diamater is around the equator, while the flat earth asserts that the largest is around the ice wall. Basically, travel in the southern parallels would take much, much longer when compared to the northern latitudes, but that is observed basically nowhere. Most flat earthers tend to agree with the 72k mile circumference of the ice wall, yet that would mean that every parallel leading up to the ice wall would also get progressively larger.

Moving onto seasons, that graphic you presented would result in the angular size of the sun changing throughout the year, which would be very easy to measure since the sun is claimed to be small/local.

2019-07-16 22:26:15 UTC

Since you didn't explain eclipses and tides on the flat earth, I can't exactly comment on that.

Cerpscular rays are also parallel and not a valid form of measuring distance to the sun. Also that whole gas pressure arguments stems from ignorance and cherry-picking what pressure actually means.

I mean like cheese, Heather didn't have a bath

Atmospheric pressure is the result of the weight of the atmosphere, which makes sense considering that 75 percent of the atmosphere is in the troposphere and the gradient hasn't been explained whatsoever on the flat earth side.
