you're right, buoyancy requires an acclerative "force".

2019-09-16 22:45:51 UTC

Eg gravity

2019-09-16 22:46:00 UTC

yup. or centrifugal even.

2019-09-16 22:46:29 UTC

Yes

2019-09-16 22:47:00 UTC

It's why scientists spin samples in centrifuges to separate them.

2019-09-16 22:47:36 UTC

@Deleted User nice name btw

2019-09-16 22:48:04 UTC

But centrifugal force cannot be applied to that of say a cargo ship or oiltanker as the amount of energy needed to create such momentum to created a buoyant effect would grow at an exponential r8

2019-09-16 22:48:06 UTC

Thanks

You guys are smarter than me <:worried:485147448503697421>

2019-09-16 22:50:11 UTC

4 me most of science is connecting the dots between key subjects I have knowledge on that's the beauty of it its like a giant web u can trace everything back to basics and vice versa

2019-09-16 22:50:28 UTC

same

2019-09-16 22:50:49 UTC

The other explanation, Universal Acceleration, is the idea that the earth is travelling upwards at a rate of 9.81 m/s2 to simulate gravity.

2019-09-16 22:50:53 UTC

That's a cool way to think about it

2019-09-16 22:51:05 UTC

That is a belief stated by the FE society

2019-09-16 22:51:12 UTC

UA?

2019-09-16 22:51:20 UTC

Elaborate on upwards

2019-09-16 22:51:22 UTC

Flat earthers disassociste themselves from it

2019-09-16 22:51:36 UTC

Call it 'government controlled opposition'

2019-09-16 22:51:47 UTC

as in, physically upwards. A force is pushing the earth skywards.

2019-09-16 22:51:59 UTC

at a constant rate of 9.81 m/s2

2019-09-16 22:52:38 UTC

Personally, I think the flat Earth society was one of the earlier incarnations of flat Earth ideas, before they realized that they can't explain away gravity and a few other things blocking their way at the time.

2019-09-16 22:52:42 UTC

tbf, it's actually a better explanation than density/buoyancy.

2019-09-16 22:53:05 UTC

I agree

2019-09-16 22:54:23 UTC

what led to the FES being ostracized?

2019-09-16 22:54:42 UTC

When FE society was thoroughly debunked flat earthers decided to switch to more ambiguous and contrived ideas and completely disassocisted themselves from math as well as science as normally understood

2019-09-16 22:54:53 UTC

No clue

2019-09-16 22:55:11 UTC

When I get unmuted on another server that's another question I have waiting

2019-09-16 22:55:55 UTC

Unless we are orbiting a central object hence gravity. there is an external force with such power to move not only earth but the surrounding universe at a constant r8 which could be theoretically possible however the chances r infantecimal compared to globe theory

2019-09-16 22:56:39 UTC

They claimed "dark energy", which is actually what mainstream science does to fit GR into macro scales.

2019-09-16 22:57:07 UTC

Also upwards is relative is it not depending in gravity

2019-09-16 22:57:11 UTC

Kek

2019-09-16 22:57:20 UTC

upwards relative to our reference frame.

2019-09-16 22:58:41 UTC

Also how can I go from the us to Hawaii to Japan to the middle east to Iberia and back to the us while only heading in one direction

2019-09-16 23:00:06 UTC

That is off course dependant on if u believe maps

2019-09-16 23:01:13 UTC

The north pole is located in the center of the flat earth map. Basically, FE is a monopole, with the entirety of the outer ring being the south pole. East to West circumnavigation is still possible on this map.

2019-09-16 23:03:04 UTC

So say all current accepted scientific theory and understanding put aside and the the government and all previous governments across the world going back to the 1500-1600s have been lying to is what is the alternative

2019-09-16 23:03:12 UTC

Song choice 👌

2019-09-16 23:03:27 UTC

?

2019-09-16 23:03:46 UTC

for the video Mathieus posted haha

2019-09-16 23:04:07 UTC

Ah
