Peter only failed in his thrice denying the Lord, but he was accepted back as an Apostle by our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ when thrice proclaimed his love for Jesus. He received the martyrs crown and is a Holy Saint of the Church.... so no Peter did not fail in the end.
