Abstract
An electromagnetic gun comprises a barrel for containing and directing an electrically conductive projectile and a plurality of inductors which are arranged in series relationship along the barrel so as to create magnetic fields which accelerate the projectile along the barrel. Electron beam directed energy device and methods of using same
Abstract
A method and apparatus is disclosed for an electron beam directed energy device. The device consists of an electron gun with one or more electron beams. The device includes one or more accelerating plates with holes aligned for beam passage. The plates may be flat or preferably shaped to direct each electron beam to exit the electron gun at a predetermined orientation. In one preferred application, the device is located in outer space with individual beams that are directed to focus at a distant target to be used to impact and destroy missiles. The aimings of the separate beams are designed to overcome Coulomb repulsion. A method is also presented for directing the beams to a target considering the variable terrestrial magnetic field. Abstract
A device provides a radiant electromagnetic energy output. During standby operation of the device, the output is provided at one or more frequencies selected to dissipate excess power through atmospheric absorption. Circuitry is included to tune the output of the device to a second frequency different than the first frequency for various directed energy applications that make use of the excess power. The Sun already featured one good-sized coronal hole, when another larger coronal hole began to emerge and intensify (Sept. 4-6, 2018). Coronal holes appear dark in extreme ultraviolet light, as is shown here. They are magnetically open areas from which solar wind streams out into space, and can last from days to months. The brighter area between the two coronal holes is an active region where the level of magnetic activity is strong.
