The slaughter is not the part that mostly contributes to suffering.

what about lab grown meat

2020-10-01 20:11:08 UTC

to be a pig grown by hooman should be the greatest priviledge. live on a farm, run around free spaces. haven. and then die a painless death so the hooman enjoy the hamburger. cause pigs woodn"t exist without us. they need us to live, we need them for the sweet hamburger

vegetarians are supporting mass slaughter of plants

2020-10-01 21:05:26 UTC

Plants don't feel pain and often produce fruits that are for consumption also it's necessary to eat something

2020-10-01 21:10:10 UTC

I think one of the greatest challenges while discussing this topic is the anthropomorphism. It’s extremely difficult to not do it. We commonly say things like “how would YOU like to be hunted in the woods”? The question is what do they want? They don’t want in the same way we do. It’s my belief that their “want” their “purpose “ their “meaning” is derived from their evolutionary role. I believe a deer “wants” to be food for a mountain lion. I think letting a being successfully fulfill its role in nature is way more respectful of it than preventing it from feeling pain. Yes, forcing animals to live their whole lives in horrible conditions seems wrong to me. We should be careful ascribing our wants and desires onto them.

2020-10-01 21:15:01 UTC

I think all organisms from microscopic to humans want to eat, live, reproduce and evolutionarily it has developed mechanisms to do so. I believe in living in such a way which has minimal impact on the survival of others and that includes non human animals.
