The data is in! 🙂👍
What are we looking at?
The article doesn't explain the methods used, but is referring that these images are spread-patterns of mucous from a cough or sneeze based on the type of facial-covering worn.
"To allay these doubts, Padmanabha Prasanna Simha, from the Indian Space Research Organisation, and Prasanna Simha Mohan Rao, from the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, experimentally visualized the flow fields of coughs under various common mouth covering scenarios. They present their findings in the journal, ' Physics of Fluids'". (Source : www.phys.org)
I read the article. It just doesn't visualize very well.
Notice the image "Surgical Mask & Hand". It appears they have taken a side-shot of each scenario. Although, I don't know the type of imaging used.
I'm sure their article could explain better. ✌
Oh I see what the silhouette is now
Derp
Its a little confusing with the n95 masks as they are designed to keep people from breathing in, but are made to be worn in contaminated zones, there isnt a piece for filtering out
It's not so much as they are designed to keep you from breathing in as it is designed to seal the nasal and oral airway. This way, contaminants have virtually no chance of entering your body.
Yea that's not what i meant
What i mean is they are great for not breathing shit in
But they breathe shit out without a filter
I understand exactly what you mean. That is the nature of the mask itself, which is why people don't like wearing them.
Well if were gonna make everyone wear a mask we should have it be legit and not security theatre like the damn tsa
> Its a little confusing with the n95 masks as they are designed to keep people from breathing in,
@Killian
Then it was a typo mb
Meant out
Can you not infer things or do you just take everything at fave valur
Value
Also, i meant they don't have filters when breathing out
I am not inferring, you specifically said it.
I will admit i fucked up typing it
If you want I'll retype it
The N95 mask is meant to be used in already contaminated areas, breathing in isn't a big deal but as there is no filter breathing out anyone that uses this mask that is infected is likley spreading more of the pathogen
Is that better for you?
The filters placed on some of the N95 masks are one-way filters. Not all N95 are required to have one. However, it does ease the act of breathing through one.
Yes
I know that
Im saying
For them to be useful in a pandemic
They need two way filters
No, I do not understand what you are trying to say.
Okay the N95 mask.
Okay you reading that?
Is only safe for people who don't have the virus currently anyone who has it, wearing that mask is more likley to spread the disease I think its a good mask but needs. A two way filter so it is more efficient during a pandemic
> They need two way filters
@Killian That would defeat the purpose of the mask. N95 masks (without a filter) are meant to be used one time, and one time only. The N95 masks with the cloth and one-way filter allow it to be used more than once. Otherwise, the N95 would be rendered useless, as with a two-way filter. Moisture builds up in those things as they are continuously used.
All the N95s i see are made of plastic not cloth
I had to wear one everyday. I work in an operating room, and have been instructed on how to properly use one.
Ok, plastic. Either way. I am not arguing such things.
