that's an EXTREMELY controversial claim

2020-09-14 19:23:49 UTC

"consent regardless of age" is an extremely controversial claim

2020-09-14 19:24:00 UTC

I made an important distinction tho in my follow up

2020-09-14 19:24:25 UTC

@Zurich04 id argue it is in both because the child doesn’t have the ability to make a decision like that

2020-09-14 19:24:44 UTC

Also underaged sex is illegal, so if 2 minors were caught do they both get prosecuted

2020-09-14 19:24:54 UTC

theoretically yes but in reality no

2020-09-14 19:25:07 UTC

Under criminal law it should be considered rape perhaps. I’m just trying to rationalize on the spot so bare with me

2020-09-14 19:25:10 UTC

> @Zurich04 id argue it is in both because the child doesn’t have the ability to make a decision like that
@kaizen they have

2020-09-14 19:25:19 UTC

but you're playing two games at once, because then you still have to say that he doesn't deserve to go to prison if he doesn't pay

2020-09-14 19:25:43 UTC

because if he goes to prison, he's (indirectly) criminally responsible for something he didn't consent to

2020-09-14 19:27:06 UTC

Perhaps it can be true simultaneously that he was rapped but still has the civil responsibility to assist in the raising of the child

2020-09-14 19:27:20 UTC

How much is child support anyway?

2020-09-14 19:27:38 UTC

I don’t think that responsibility applies when he didn’t consent to conceiving the child

2020-09-14 19:27:48 UTC

Let's all hop into voice.

2020-09-14 19:28:01 UTC

Aww but text is so fun sometimes

2020-09-14 19:28:10 UTC

how come two minors would have to go to prison, since they both don't have the ability to make a decision like that?

2020-09-14 19:28:13 UTC

Im at school rn too

2020-09-14 19:28:21 UTC

So I can’t vc

2020-09-14 19:29:09 UTC

I’m about to run too

2020-09-14 19:29:13 UTC

I’ll hop on vc in a little bit

2020-09-14 19:29:13 UTC

> I don’t think that responsibility applies when he didn’t consent to conceiving the child
@kaizen I would disagree there. You have a responsibility for the child you bear regardless of circumstance

2020-09-14 19:29:59 UTC
2020-09-14 19:29:59 UTC

How do you justify that?

2020-09-14 19:30:08 UTC
2020-09-14 19:30:23 UTC

@Zurich04 what time is on your clock?

2020-09-14 19:30:26 UTC

In my part of the world it's half past 9 pm

2020-09-14 19:30:34 UTC

Oof

2020-09-14 19:30:41 UTC

I think it’s a necessity for a society to hold that position in order to function kaizen

2020-09-14 19:30:42 UTC

It’s 3:30 pm here

2020-09-14 19:30:48 UTC

12:30

2020-09-14 19:30:55 UTC

West coast US

2020-09-14 19:30:55 UTC

Damn lucky you guys

2020-09-14 19:31:01 UTC

I’d disagree slightly

2020-09-14 19:31:02 UTC
2020-09-14 19:31:42 UTC

It’s necessary to uphold that principle when the child is a product of consensual sex

2020-09-14 19:32:16 UTC

Not in instances where one party doesn’t consent

2020-09-14 19:33:10 UTC

What if the consenting party is unable to raise the child? (idk if that was the case in this case but that’s just a question)

2020-09-14 19:33:10 UTC

It would also be a deterrent against female predators

2020-09-14 19:33:14 UTC

@everyone GOING LIVE! GOD IS ON THE MENU! https://youtu.be/-EMgikIw5Io

2020-09-14 19:34:03 UTC

@Zurich04 then it would depend on circumstances. For example, was protection used and the child still conceived?

2020-09-14 19:34:08 UTC

That’s probably a big one
