Another thing I have a problem with is the Idea of bringing tithes up from the Old Testament to the new. I don't think it can be supported in the scriptures. If someone can discuss this issue I'd like to talk about it.

Leviticus 27:30

2019-10-21 01:54:15 UTC

**Leviticus 27:30 - New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)**

```Dust
<30> All tithes from the land, whether the seed from the ground or the fruit from the tree, are the Lord's; they are holy to the Lord. ```
Leviticus 27:30-34
**Leviticus 27:30-34 - New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)**
```Dust

<30> All tithes from the land, whether the seed from the ground or the fruit from the tree, are the Lord's; they are holy to the Lord. <31> If persons wish to redeem any of their tithes, they must add one-fifth to them. <32> All tithes of herd and flock, every tenth one that passes under the shepherd's staff, shall be holy to the Lord. <33> Let no one inquire whether it is good or bad, or make substitution for it; if one makes substitution for it, then both it and the substitute shall be holy and cannot be redeemed. <34> These are the commandments that the Lord gave to Moses for the people of Israel on Mount Sinai. ```

All right, that last verse says the commandment was to the children of Israel on Mt. Sinai. Do you believe that transfers to the Christians of the new covenant?

2019-10-21 02:25:15 UTC

The laws we're for the Israelites, so if other people lived or worked wthin there country they had to abide the laws too.

2019-10-21 02:28:01 UTC

There were many laws then there were Jubilee laws too.

2019-10-21 02:28:46 UTC

I will look further into the laws of the Israelites.

I would like clarification on prayer with or without head covering covered in 1Corinthians 11:1-16

1 Corinthians 10: 1-16

1 Corinthians 11:1-16

**1 Corinthians 11:1-16 - New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)**

```Dust
Head Coverings
<1> <1> Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ. <2> I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions just as I handed them on to you. <3> But I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, and the husband is the head of his wife, and God is the head of Christ. <4> Any man who prays or prophesies with something on his head disgraces his head, <5> but any woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled disgraces her head—it is one and the same thing as having her head shaved. <6> For if a woman will not veil herself, then she should cut off her hair; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to have her hair cut off or to be shaved, she should wear a veil. <7> For a man ought not to have his head veiled, since he is the image and reflection of God; but woman is the reflection of man. <8> Indeed, man was not made from woman, but woman from man. <9> Neither was man created for the sake of woman, but woman for the sake of man. <10> For this reason a woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels. <11> Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man or man independent of woman. <12> For just as woman came from man, so man comes through woman; but all things come from God. <13> Judge for yourselves: is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head unveiled? <14> Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears long hair, it is degrading to him, <15> but if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For her hair is given to her for a covering. <16> But if anyone is disposed to be contentious—we have no such custom, nor do the churches of God. ```
2019-10-21 03:24:12 UTC
It is stated clearly enough that the head covering is hair, The woman should let hers grow and not cut it. the man should cut his to be acceptable before God in prayer. The KJV is a little clearer on the issue, I think, but I prefer the King James.
That's a truth that isn't taught anymore in modern day 'churches'. I think it's because of the women's lib movement where they think they should be equal or even superior to men because they don't understand that they are two parts of a whole. that is the result of what happened in the garden. Eve was the first to be deceived and so was caused to be subservient to Adam who was made to be subservient to the earth, having to work by the sweat of his brow for his living. The serpent, not a snake, was turned into a snake to eat the dust of the ground. The dust of the ground that God formed Adam from.
I may be evil spoken of for that last bit but the meaning is clear. Try as you might you can't make the scriptures say what you want.
Good Morning Shadetree49 You have a Blessed Day. I'm off to run some errands in the big city.
Poking the bear again, I've got another impertinent question. Can anyone show where the word Trinity is recorded in the Bible?
2019-10-21 16:10:16 UTC
2 Corinthians 4:5-7
2019-10-21 16:10:17 UTC
**2 Corinthians 4:5-7 - New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)**
```Dust

<5> For we do not proclaim ourselves; we proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and ourselves as your slaves for Jesus' sake. <6> For it is the God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. <7> But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that it may be made clear that this extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us. ```

@wheredowegofromhereQ Just curious, is your post a reply to my question or something else?

**Isaiah 54:16-17 - New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)**

```Dust
<16> See it is I who have created the smith who blows the fire of coals, and produces a weapon fit for its purpose; I have also created the ravager to destroy. <17> No weapon that is fashioned against you shall prosper, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, says the Lord. ```
@imig There are plenty of 'concepts' that can (and certainly have been) inferred from the scriptures. The best misinformation starts with a grain of truth. This controversy has simmered since the Trinity concept was first introduced at the council of Nicaea in about 340 AD. Many preachers who had been invited there were executed for disagreeing.
