also worth noting, if we could trust scientific studies not to be manipulated in favor of corporations we wouldnt have monsanto or vaccines or global warming. so thats worth weighing too.

Even if that were the case, it's still not the main point of the ritual or the sacrifice. Crowley specifically mentions a rite involving torture for the purpose of enslaving the soul of the sacrifice as an "elemental"
