About news:
I love hearing everyone read news articles live on-air.
Because I want to see the effort continue unfettered by problems I have a few suggestions about policies regarding reading on-air news from other sources (non-original content) to avoid someone getting their feelings hurt and lodging a copyright complaint.
1) couch newsreading as a service to those who are unable to read it themselves, either because they are travelling or blind [public service]
2) range widely through sources and avoid picking any particular go-to sources in the same order...this could give the provider cause to say their service is being co-opted
3) note the name of the article, credit the author, advise folks to visit the content online, drop a link. [promote the content creator's original work] This gives a drudge-like "we're promoting your work; if that's a problem, we can just stop sending you traffic."
4) limit article to a 2 minute read...if the article is longer than 2 minutes, hit the high points...opener, bits of interest, and the 'punchline' often at the bottom
I have suggested to a few mods...don't know if this has been presented at your editorial meetings... that "many hands make light work." There are many of us who could be responsible for monitoring particular news sources and pre-recording an article, dropping it for review, then these could be made available for on-air folks to kick off so they can get coffee / quick break.
Lastly, I suggest an area on the public discord that we can promote like this:
"Red Hots" - Stories less than 4 hours old: drop a link to what you think is the ONE hottest story of the day; don't duplicate a story already in there... AND ... drop one local hard-news story about your region that you believe is important but not something you'd find in a national feed, AP, etc.
The Red Hots would be purged/archived daily.
I like the red hots

@D3M0_Anon thinking out loud so that folders get used in a way that all the sauce has a fixed spot
@Kiwi61Karma We have rooms for drop specific tasks (as many servers do)
My local "red hot" was above... excerpt..
California has managed to outdo itself yet again, choosing to honor the needs of their illegal alien population over that of their American taxpaying citizenry. California’s General Assembly has just passed a bill making them the first state to extend Medicaid coverage to immigrants, regardless of immigration status.
And now I'm a little nauseous
@D3M0_Anon come over to voice and jump in great convo happening here
