@Doctor Anon I’m curious, it what sense do you think the blanket ban of Alex Jones across multiple platforms and services was justified?

2018-08-11 18:42:02 UTC

No website is currently good enough for mass ship jumping from YouTube or other similar platforms.
@Deleted User He *did* violate their ToS, specifically I'm looking on YouTube. And if you look into the info wars ToS, it's many times worse than YouTube's ToS. The hysteria is overblown when Infowars themselves are guilty of censorship on their platform of left wing views

Infowars ToS

2018-08-11 18:45:25 UTC

*"it is not censorship if you violate the rules..." -infowars

2018-08-11 18:48:12 UTC

It’s hard not to violate YoUTube TOS, but that is YouTube’s prerogative.

I don’t see how that Infowars TOS is worse than YouTubes. What is in the Infowars TOS that was violated by Infowars in the YoUTube TOS?

2018-08-11 18:49:38 UTC

YouTube has bulling and hate speech in its TOS.

2018-08-11 18:49:52 UTC

Not necessarily worse, but when I told people this ToS and said it's YouTube they were outraged, but when it's Infowars they don't really care. The fact they contain a clause for hate speech

2018-08-11 18:51:00 UTC

Yeah I see it now

2018-08-11 18:51:44 UTC

Infowars should be held to the same standards and they censor what they deem as hateful comments and accounts etc on their site, its ironic when they complain they are being censored on vauge hate speech charges when they are guilty of it themselves

2018-08-11 18:52:30 UTC

YouTube is free to censor whoever they want, so is Infowars in their comments section. But if Infowars and Youtube behave the same, it’s clear then that they are both publishers, not platforms, and they have a political agenda.

2018-08-11 18:52:32 UTC

I don't support censorship, but it's just hypocritical, the reactions.

2018-08-11 18:53:06 UTC

I agree. I love open comments sections. Just nothing illegal.

2018-08-11 18:53:22 UTC

I'd support a nationalized platform where rights are enforced but I don't think it's likely

2018-08-11 18:53:50 UTC

YouTube has received subsidies so you can argue it could be nationalized legally

2018-08-11 18:54:04 UTC

Right, like an internet bill of rights. I agree. It would be good. I also agree it’s not likely

2018-08-11 18:54:31 UTC

I’ve seen people say that. Facebook and twitter have too I think.

2018-08-11 18:55:33 UTC

At the end of the day it's dumb to assume that these platform's leaders don't have an agenda and will act accordingly

2018-08-11 18:56:09 UTC

I don't think we'll see any major alternative to the major platforms for some time

2018-08-11 18:56:38 UTC

Natural progression of corporations gurantees these platform's will be replaced, but it's a matter of when

2018-08-11 19:13:15 UTC

It’s going to be awhile, that’s for sure. I’ll always be scouting these possible alternatives, but I’m thinking this current natural monopoly has about a decade.

2018-08-11 20:57:29 UTC

@Doctor Anon Google/Microsoft are bigger monopolies than most registered monopolies

“ Trump and Sessions never has a plan-Except cruelty “ by Charles P. Pierce

Hysterical article claims that Trump and Sessions are racist against “ anyone browner then himself “ because an illegal alien got deported. Whomp whomp.

“ Study: 24 million white Americans think like the Alt-Right “ by Zack Beauchamp on Vox

Vox makes the absurd claim that 24 million people think like the Alt-Right. All you needed to qualify for being what Vox has described as literal Nazis in past articles, are these three things. 1. A strong sense of white identity 2. A belief in the importance of white solidarity 3. A sense of white victimization. How many none whites think like this? Are they Alt-Right too?

http://archive.today/TX2QU

2018-08-11 23:07:41 UTC

not everyone in the alt-right is a literal nazi

2018-08-11 23:08:00 UTC

I know

2018-08-11 23:08:12 UTC

Vox has said that in the past. Not me.

2018-08-11 23:08:15 UTC

has this author described the alt-right that way?

2018-08-11 23:08:19 UTC

vox is not a writer

2018-08-11 23:08:24 UTC

it's an organization

2018-08-11 23:09:14 UTC

So? You really think this writer would make that distinction? They’re trying to tie millions to the Alt-Right

2018-08-11 23:09:33 UTC

Millions with nothing to do with them.

2018-08-11 23:10:10 UTC

not necessarily

2018-08-11 23:10:21 UTC

the alt-right isn't a cohesive thing

2018-08-11 23:10:41 UTC

Vox is a publisher, and that’s who I was commenting on. So it doesn’t even matter
