If it's not a new party it's the other party
Right, but rarely does a *new* party form against him
My point is that we have such a string divide in our politics that anyone could look back and call nearly any president terrible because people opposed him.
Thats beyond opposition
An entirely new country formed because of lincoln
Does that make him bad?
I would argue that it was because of Taylor
You could argue a lot
He refused to handle the situation properly during the lame duck period
As to whys secession was a consideration
I know why, Its the jews.
However lincoln being elected is what triggered secession
Right, but Taylor could have done anything to stop it
And he refused to
That's indirect
Furthermore, it's still hotly debated if states have the actual right to leave the union- all we can say for sure is that they entered a state of rebellion
States do not have the right to leave the union.
That's a separate issue
I think the precedent for that was very clearly set.
Many countries explicitly state in their constitutions it is illegal to secede.
Otherwise it's an unwritten rule and in America's case there is a precedent for it.
There is no clearly defined law about secession
And?
America's legal system is common law.
if a state secedes just nuke it
don't forget that you most likely have a few silos there
That's ridiculous
They're still Americans
@Josh42A The best president was John Tyler because he btfo'd Congress, worst is Drumpf because he deports mexicans.
Trump isn't *that* bad
@Obungus Unless the state has a constitution, it is an anarchic state full of barbarians.
That just isn't true
And even if it does it poses a threat to national security
It's in the Declaration of the Rights of Man
So does nuking one of our own states
It's not our own state if it secedes.
I agree that secession shouldn't be toelrated
But nuking them is not the solution
Would it work?
Maybe
