>you must have children to get your rights

2018-10-21 20:42:19 UTC

Seems genius

2018-10-21 20:42:37 UTC

Maybe that would be useful in social democracies but not in America

2018-10-21 20:44:19 UTC

Individuals shouldn't be able to vote

2018-10-21 20:44:29 UTC

Votes should be by family unit

2018-10-21 20:45:00 UTC

The man gets a vote

2018-10-21 20:45:18 UTC

That's very anti individualist

2018-10-21 20:45:31 UTC

But a great way to surpress women

2018-10-21 20:48:19 UTC

No one should be able to vote

2018-10-21 20:48:42 UTC

^ in a proper world

2018-10-21 21:09:47 UTC

2 terms, no minimum age, cap it at 60

2018-10-21 21:09:58 UTC

Or just a decentralized direct democracy

2018-10-21 21:44:32 UTC

direct democracy sucks though

2018-10-21 21:45:03 UTC

Modern Democracy isn't the true democracy.

2018-10-21 21:48:42 UTC

Back in Ancient Greece, where Democracy originated, the power was in the hands of the people. They had a council and they decided if the laws that <someone> suggested could pass and be applied. And they would pass if the majority of the council voted them. The council was held by wise people, teachers, etc.

2018-10-21 21:49:03 UTC

There was a "President" who was commanding the army and also suggesting the majority of laws

2018-10-21 21:49:13 UTC

So the people had the complete power

2018-10-21 21:49:55 UTC

Δημοκρατία= Δήμος+Κράτος
Democracy=Demo+Cracy= People+State

2018-10-21 21:50:14 UTC

It worked because only men voted

2018-10-21 21:50:22 UTC

Only male citizens

2018-10-21 21:50:30 UTC

Well, even further than that, not all men could vote either

2018-10-21 21:50:54 UTC

You had to complete a military service and be over 18

2018-10-21 21:51:04 UTC

And not be a slave

2018-10-21 21:51:09 UTC

Sounds like good criteria

2018-10-21 21:51:22 UTC

A very good one

2018-10-21 21:51:51 UTC

Male citizen
Complete military service for your nation
Be over 18

2018-10-21 21:51:54 UTC

The Council was called "Εκκλησία του Δήμου" or "Council of the People" for your info.

2018-10-21 21:52:13 UTC

Modern Democracy is very different

2018-10-21 21:52:21 UTC

That type of democracy would be called autocracy nowadays

2018-10-21 21:52:24 UTC

By libs

2018-10-21 21:52:28 UTC

True

2018-10-21 21:52:42 UTC

They also had sortition, which is very overlooked and underrated

2018-10-21 21:52:43 UTC

imo

2018-10-21 21:53:33 UTC

That's a good system

2018-10-21 21:53:57 UTC

If they had it

2018-10-21 21:54:03 UTC

*they did*

2018-10-21 21:54:04 UTC

We're they actually chosen at random

2018-10-21 21:54:07 UTC

Damn ok

2018-10-21 21:54:15 UTC

History never taught me that

2018-10-21 21:54:39 UTC

Well, since I'm half greek I know more things about Democracy and greek shit

2018-10-21 21:54:52 UTC

Well I mean it's not a bad system considering the criteria
