and the osman turks might have been scattered to the winds but the turkish population wasnt going anywhere even if the timurids slapped their shit

2018-11-16 14:56:16 UTC

someone else would have assumed power i'd imagine

2018-11-16 14:56:44 UTC

@Jack12 I never said they would take Anatolia. I said they might carve up the Balkans

2018-11-16 14:57:39 UTC

wel lthe balkans were always shitty and fractured, the italians might have been able to exercise *some* control over the dalmatian coastline but as far as force projection inland <:Doubt:419484038613696532>

2018-11-16 14:58:06 UTC

also you would have hungary, wallachia, etc vying for control as well

2018-11-16 14:58:24 UTC

assuming the local macedonians and bulgarians dont go "nuh uh we kingdom now"

2018-11-16 14:59:19 UTC

Byzantium may take Adrionople and Thessolonikki, Bulgaria might become a nation again(or wallachia/Hungary), Serbia might restart the Serbian Empire. I think Karaman could be in a position to take most of Anatolia. Maybe the Byzantines might get the Christian coast, and Genoa might take some land to protect their Crimean colony

>byzantium

2018-11-16 15:02:59 UTC

weak and ineffectual even after the restoration of the 1260's

2018-11-16 15:03:08 UTC

barely a kingdom, much less an empire at that point

2018-11-16 15:03:25 UTC

4th crusade permanently hobbled the romans

2018-11-16 15:03:53 UTC

Yes

2018-11-16 15:04:09 UTC

they had the greek core areas but little else, some outposts on the black sea

2018-11-16 15:04:42 UTC

bulgaria would def pop up and be annoying, 9-11th centuries they were just constantly rebelling and starting shit

2018-11-16 15:04:57 UTC

genoa got fucked by the black death anyway

2018-11-16 15:05:35 UTC

as for anatolia, who knows but it just became a chaotic frontier anyway post-manzikert even after the turks took over

2018-11-16 15:05:49 UTC

cilicia to armenia was just bandit hell

2018-11-16 15:05:54 UTC

fortified towns everywhere

2018-11-16 15:06:12 UTC

anything west of that semi normal but never the way it was under the romans

2018-11-16 15:07:25 UTC

I don't deny Byzantium was weak.

2018-11-16 15:07:45 UTC

But they probably might take a tiny bit of Territory

2018-11-16 15:20:35 UTC

they were in steady and permanent decline

2018-11-16 15:21:24 UTC

they might have retained greek lands through thessaly, attica, etc but wouldnt have good strong control of the aegean or mediterranean

2018-11-16 15:21:42 UTC

it was a matter of time before they faded out, 1453 was just a formality

@everyone Daily Question 🔖

What is the best way to ensure a fair and free speech internet for all, or should the internet be let loose to corporations?

2018-11-16 19:04:14 UTC

If the interner should at all exist, then it should be as national *intra*net.

2018-11-16 19:04:46 UTC

And be heavily censored.

2018-11-16 19:04:50 UTC

intranet?

2018-11-16 19:05:42 UTC

The internet should be regulated in a way to ensure free speech on giant platforms, such as facebook, youtube, twitter, etc.

2018-11-16 19:07:16 UTC

Yes, it's like the internet but limited to a certain place. In this case a nation.

2018-11-16 19:09:23 UTC

@Vilhelmsson What if i want to talk to other countries

2018-11-16 19:09:38 UTC

let it loose to the corps, people will take their money to one that is the most fair

2018-11-16 19:09:55 UTC

I doubt many people would willingly pay to have their speech silenced

2018-11-16 19:10:31 UTC

That's an extremely optimistic view

2018-11-16 19:10:45 UTC

people that seriously advocate for government censorship don't realize that their views could be getting censored as well

2018-11-16 19:11:02 UTC

If you let it loose, near instantly platforms like google, youtube, facebook, twitter, would go full hammer on free speech

2018-11-16 19:11:10 UTC

and only allow speech they like

2018-11-16 19:11:14 UTC

and their views would lead to an orwellian dystopia

2018-11-16 19:11:27 UTC

"atleast its not the goberment"

2018-11-16 19:11:28 UTC

then people can go to websites that don't

2018-11-16 19:11:39 UTC

which have virtually no viewbase compared to the giant
