Just brand new tarrifs implemented, stocks rise
@The Big Oof why do you want out of the us?
Anyone wanna vc?
There will be a vc debate sometime this week
@campodin because
streets are not safe to walk on
The political situation is pretty bad, or will be
I feel like a stranger in my own country
Idk where you live
But I have not seen that except for in highly urbanized areas
@The Big Oof about what?
State intervention versus free markets
Free markets is way better than state intervention
No markets is way better than anything
I think it depends.
Regulation has its own unique advantages.
I wouldn't hand out a Monopoly, but I would also use regulation to prevent a Monopoly to keep small business competitive.
Like if an international conglomerate came along and started putting smaller companies out of business.
so practical regulation to promote an effective market?
Due to their ability to get massive bulk.
The difficult part is deciding for competition.
Like the USA market isn't as free as you might think.
You could be getting even cheaper stuff, but the government regulates it in order to keep their people competitive in the market
Like potatoes are a recent example of the Federal government in the USA thinking about investigation and regulation in response to what the officials are calling "Potato Dumping" by Canada.
Super cheap surplus potatoes outcompete the domestic varieties.
Farmers lose revenue.
farm subsidies and regulations causes us to use our resources in the worst way possible.
farmers are encouraged to produce unneeded food
Well, either that or your farmers quit.
I would rather some quit
All of them might though.
the chances of that are incredibly slim
