yeah. jobs programs can be good. The bigger problem with that today, though, is that public works like in FDR days were less specialized fields than they are today

i think that a much higher percentage of workers in construction today are expected to have operational competence in heavy machinery and modern construction techniques

not to mention that if big projects are attempted in jobs programs with untrained labor, i think today society would not tolerate human lives being lost for a project like we allowed for example during the construction of the hoover dam

human beings have inherent value, however illegally immigrating can be considered an invasion much like entering someones home without permission. In any normal world you are permitted to shoot this person or persons without question, even if the door was left wide open for days on end. There are some actions that, when commited, forefit your right to life, such as assault or invasion etc. as you are putting the lives of others into question. You are as such permitted to stop the invasion be it one or many people. Of course this requires actually passing the borderor getting within the buffer zone of a border which isnt usually even that long.

And honestly job programs are superior to welfare for anyone that can work. This has been proven over and over again.

You do not need to task untrained labour with difficult jobs, finishing is not a difficult job and only requires nails and mudding in the most basic sense. Dry-wallers, and floor setters.

These jobs would end up with no loss of life even if done poorly. If done poorly you just need to do it again, and if somebody is so bad at existing that they are unable to do even basic finishing then they are likely unskilled, in which case if they aren't a citizen, you should kick them out, and if they are a citizen then... Well... Sucks to be them. The government tried and tried to help.
