https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRZog723dDE - Assad retakes a very significant amount of Southern Syria.
good
Very big gains.
Syria and the Kurds have also agreed to an oil-sharing contract in an oil-rich region presently under SDF control.
yeah I'm looking at the warmaps now
Providing Syria with a welcome boost in state revenue.
ISIS is trapped in bubbles and the rebels are plastered to the border, good stuff
The only concern is Turkey and the Kurds. The Kurds have called for direct negotiations with Damascus however with NO preconditions. This is a very cordial invitation.
The Kurds have also stated they don't wish to secede from Syria, simply for greater autonomy. The specific outline of this autonomy is what's most important however.
Yeah I think he does have to find a way to keep things calm with Turkey if he's going to be cordial with the Kurds.
The Kurds, backed by the US, will likely look to curb Syrian state revenue by asserting majority Kurdish economic control over hydrocarbon-rich regions under Kurdish control. (Northern Syria, which is under chiefly Kurdish control, provides 90% of state revenue to Assad's government due to it being extremely rich in natural gas).
The US will likely look to strangle Syria's ability to finance itself so Russia has to pour more funds into the war and thereby weaken Russia financially and economically further.
Russia's already struggling deeply economically due to sanctions causing a contraction in their export market and a severe depreciation of the Russian currency.
