and also the famous Brown v Board of Education
wdym
im ok with brown so long as it applies to public schools
Hi ok with brown so long as it applies to public schools, I'm Dad!
i dont support segregation but a private school should be able to do it
and wait maybe im just being daft but why is using the phrase white supremacy stupid?
Because it's a Supreme Court decision mainly
That is not a lawful reason lol
and?
that is an opinion
im looking this up hold on
Hi looking this up hold on, I'm Dad!
ill read this for myself
"There is patently no legitimate overriding purpose independent of invidious racial discrimination which justifies this classification. The fact that Virginia prohibits only interracial marriages involving white persons demonstrates that the racial classifications must stand on their own justification, as measures designed to maintain White Supremacy. "
this part?
I would believe so
ok looks like thats the part of the opinion with that term
There are two.
But regardless it applies to two races, and uses racially neutral wording.
Correct.
lemme look that up too
most laws against race mixing was not just blacks, most were just non whites in general
ye i get that
and this only happened in the South
well yeah southern attitudes were and are different from the north lol
lemme read up on the law itself
A lot of blacks, including Muhammad Ali, also supported anti-miscegenation laws.
yep
ok so as i understand it the idea is that white people can only marry within their race
yep
It's sad we had to force black kids into White Schools
ok so what i get from that is that the SC is saying that Virginia is putting itself into individual marriage basically to enforce racial "purity" if you will, and the fact that it is specifically for the white race means that it has a vested interest in white racial homogeneity and that racial identity is placed higher than individual choice
i agree they shouldnt have been FORCED like with that whole busing mess but in the case of public schools they should have been integrated in efficient and ethical ways
but they don't
and they haven't
havent yes like i said i agree
but dont?
whats going on now then?
but to get back to loving, the argument of the SC seems to be that Virginia is placing the enforcement of a racial hierarchy above individual choice in terms of legality, which is inherently unethical imho
