But the deals have to go through congress and all, no?

2018-07-25 18:29:04 UTC

They'd probably get stonewalled

2018-07-25 18:29:13 UTC

Yeah, and if democrats reject a good deal, it reflects terribly on *them* in the elections

2018-07-25 18:29:36 UTC

If Trump gives them the keys to end the trade war and they fumble it, the blame goes to them instead of Trump

2018-07-25 18:30:24 UTC

So?

2018-07-25 18:30:33 UTC

>So?

2018-07-25 18:30:33 UTC

Why would dem voters know they rejected a good deal

2018-07-25 18:30:42 UTC

What

2018-07-25 18:30:43 UTC

Sorry didn't type fast enough

2018-07-25 18:30:52 UTC

It's not about dem voters

2018-07-25 18:31:01 UTC

It kind of is

2018-07-25 18:31:02 UTC

It's about moderate Americans concerned about the "trade war"

2018-07-25 18:31:13 UTC

That lean dem

2018-07-25 18:31:16 UTC

Lefties will be lefties, but these are the people that matter

2018-07-25 18:31:18 UTC

false

2018-07-25 18:31:32 UTC

But if Trump wins this and/or the dems screw it up they're likely to move right?

2018-07-25 18:31:38 UTC

Is what you're saying?

2018-07-25 18:32:17 UTC

It's a Catch-22. Either the dems pass the trade deal, giving Trump a major political victory, boosting his approval, which will put more Rs in Congress. And if they don't pass it, they take the blame for not ending the trade war, the working class gets angry at them, more Rs end up in Congress.

2018-07-25 18:32:33 UTC

That's the dynamic of if Trump has to send them a trade deal, it can only end well for us

2018-07-25 18:32:43 UTC

So a longer version of what I said

2018-07-25 18:32:58 UTC

eh

2018-07-25 18:33:06 UTC

It's not about ideology when it comes to the farmers, whoever they see fuck this up will get retribution.

2018-07-25 18:33:10 UTC

A longer version of what I meant*

2018-07-25 18:33:18 UTC

Whether it's the farmers or the WWC

2018-07-25 18:33:34 UTC

2018-07-25 18:34:16 UTC

these are the people that are a little concerned about the Trade War

2018-07-25 18:34:19 UTC

The point is, those swing voters will look at whoever botched it and fuck them up in the midterms

2018-07-25 18:35:21 UTC

But, couldn't they just blame Trump for Starting this?

2018-07-25 18:35:26 UTC

If Trump does a good job, they'll reward him for keeping his promises of making better deals for America and vote R in the midterms, if the Dems blockade a good trade deal, they'll get mad at the dems and oust them so the trade deal can get through.

2018-07-25 18:35:38 UTC

Remember the government shutdown

2018-07-25 18:36:11 UTC

There is only so much that the American people will blame Trump for

2018-07-25 18:36:31 UTC

I get what you are saying but they might just look at the person who started this situation.

2018-07-25 18:36:36 UTC

If he gets through with a good deal and is met by obstructionists, the obstructionists will get the blame for not ending it

2018-07-25 18:36:51 UTC

Again, same thing with the gov shutdown

2018-07-25 18:37:20 UTC

And the lefties will blame Trump for everything that goes wrong under the sun, ignore them. This is Trump's WWC swing voters we're talking about

2018-07-25 18:37:32 UTC

The moderates.

2018-07-25 18:37:36 UTC

Will Auto-Tariffs help our WWC Base in the Rust Belt or hurt them

2018-07-25 18:37:37 UTC

The dems fuck this up, they go.

2018-07-25 18:37:43 UTC

I got you

2018-07-25 18:37:50 UTC

In the short term, hurt, in the long, help

2018-07-25 18:38:03 UTC

Because in the end the goal is to get everyone to lower their tariffs
